Older library crashing Kontakt Player

I have an older .nki library called Bassysm-J by Acousticsamples which opens fine in Kontakt 8 on macOS Tahoe but crashes both Kontakt and Reaper when I try to load it in Windows 11. It also crashes Kontakt in standalone in Windows.

Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? I tried a batch resave on the library folder but that also crashed Kontakt. I am aware that I could purchase the upgrade to the UVI version but I'd rather get the version I already own working, if possible. Thanks.

Ok I've just seen this thread and will go through the suggestions there. I've already tried a couple of them but I'll see if any of the others work. Meanwhile, if anyone has any other suggestions I'd appreciate it.

I tried the solutions in the Kontakt Crashes Support' page but all to no avail.

@Marcusmaximus , if you have earned edit rights then you should be able to edit post by clicking circle with three dots in top right of post and then select Edit.

@PoorFellow Thanks. I mustn't have earned those rights because I don't see any dots, just a flag. I also managed to delete my last post about editing by mistake! I have posted on this forum in the past but not for a while so I suppose the system sees me as a newbie..

Sorry but no that was me , I made an edit of the other post as you wanted it and then deleted your comment on the edit need. (user with edit rights can edit their posts but they can not delete posts only Mods and Admins can)

With respect to the edit rights then I have asked multiple times what are the requirements but have not been able to get any specific answer. But it is simply earned by participating and earning higher trust/status level that way. In case needed then the Admins can grant rights ahead of time but as far as I know then we Mods do not have that power.

Ah I see. It must have been deleted at the same time that I deleted the draft text in the Comment box as I'm pretty sure I saw it beforehand. Not to worry anyway, all good!

By the way , then from where I sit then it is possible that your problem is related to this other problem with loading K4 files. As a Moderator here then I can not recommend that you start hacking the NI EXE files and plugins , I can merely suggest that you bring the possible relation up with NI when contacting N.I. Support . Anyway then if you should start experimenting with modifying any files then please save a copy of the original file prior to doing so.

Yes as I said above I have read through that thread and tried all the suggestions, apart from modifying the code! That feels like a step too far.

Perhaps I’ll just have to contact Support as you suggest.
