I’m doing some technical research into Spitfire Audio’s older BBC Symphony Orchestra NKS implementation, especially the transition from Komplete Kontrol 2.x / NKS1 to KK 3.x.
I’m trying to locate an untouched copy of the original BBCSO NKS folder or individual .nksf files from roughly 2020–2022, ideally from BBCSO versions around v1.2–v1.5 and before the Komplete Kontrol 3.0 transition.
One confirmed example from a BBCSO v1.5.0 installation is:
Spitfire Audio - BBC Symphony Orchestra\NKS\BBCSO_Core_Brass_Horn.nksf
I’d like to compare an original KK2-era BBCSO .nksf against the current files at a binary/structural level — including NISI/NICA metadata, plugin identification/state, parameter mapping and possible VST2→VST3 differences.
If anyone still has:
- an old BBCSO installation,
- a backup of the BBCSO
NKS folder, - old BBCSO
.nksf files, - or copies preserved in Native Instruments User Content,
I would be very interested in examining them.
Even a single untouched original BBCSO .nksf from the KK2 era would be extremely useful.
@Kymeia @Vagus @chpiatt — I’m tagging you because of your past work and discussions around NKS, Spitfire libraries and the KK3 transition. If you still have any old BBCSO NKS files, or remember someone who archived them, I’d really appreciate any lead.
This is purely for technical/research comparison of the old and current NKS implementations.
