Updated to Kontakt 8, now cannot get Session Horns Pro or other NI plugins to open

I moved to a new iMac.

Updated Logic Pro to 12.3

Installed Kontakt 8. It is located in: Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components > Kontakt 8.component

Updated/reinstalled Session Horns Pro

Session Horns Pro library is in Macintosh HD/users/shared/Session Horns Pro Library

I've found Kontakt 8 in Logic Pro Plug-In Manager. I've done reset/rescan. I've rebooted the Mac and restarted Logic Pro. No luck.

What am I missing? With my old mac and Kontakt 5 I had access to all my NI plugins.

So…

I deleted Native Access and Kontakt 8 and reinstalled them. I also reinstalled Session Horns Pro.

Rebooted the Mac.

Did a 'reset and rescan' on Kontakt 8 in the Plug-in manager.

I can insert Kontakt 8 into a software instrument channel strip, but Kontakt 8 does not show any of the libraries (eg Session Horns Pro). If I click on Kontakt 8 in the channel strip then it opens Kontakt Player and I can see the various libraries that I have purchased and downloaded.

OK. It seems things are just set up differently now. I expected to click on Kontakt 8 and get a list of the libraries, but it instead opens Kontakt Player.

However, the good news is that after all the reinstalling I am getting some previously recorded tracks to play again.

Do you see Session Horns and other libraries when you load Kontakt standalone rather than inside Logic?

When you say 'other plugins' do you mean other NI plugins or other Kontakt libraries?

I guess I am using the wrong nomenclature. I have the following libraries: Session Horns Pro, Session Strings Pro, VoxOs. I cannot get any of them to show up in Logic Pro under Kontakt 8. I'm obviously doing something wrong, but cannot figure out what.

Before upgrading Logic Pro, MacOs and Kontakt (from 5 to 8), all was working just fine.

I'm stumped.

there’s definitely a db3 file , it’s the database file , are you looking in the correct (Mac) library, you have user and OS , you have hdd/library and hdd/user/library

you want hdd/user/libray/ application support / native instruments/ kontakt

Delete or move db3 file and open kontakt stand alone , it will create a new database file

the last 3 posts of that thread refer to mac and missing libraries in logic

The user said he can see them in classic view in standalone , but not default view , and can see nothing in logic .

He did say it fixed it

if it’s not that maybe it’s the “ grant full disk access “ for logic or kontakt

It dawned on me that I wouldn't have komplete.db3 since I don't have Komplete installed. That is what I searched for.

But under hdd/library/application support/Native Instruments/Kontakt 8 I do not see a db3 file.

I cannot find any db3 file anywhere on my hard drive.

Within the database folder that is inside the Kontakt 8 folder, there are two files:

Default.kdb and Kontakt Factory Presets.kdb

I have granted full disk access for logic and kontakt.

I wonder if I should just start over and reinstall kontakt 8 from scratch?

Oh, no.

I'm feeling foolish.

I do have the komplete.db3 file, which I found after following the instructions in that post again…more carefully.

But…what is with the mac search function that did not turn it up??

For some reason I could not find it following the normal file structure, but the search as mentioned in that other thread led me to it.

I see three files:

komplete.db3

komplete.db3-shm

komplete.db3-wal

I'll try deleting the komplete.db3 file

Yeah the Mac search thing can be odd , I was trying to look for .json file to uninstall kontakt and it just wouldn’t locate it or there’s two and it would only show one , and I had to track it down myself after searching the forum for the location
