S88 MK3 MIDI Channels in DAW Mode

Question

I am using S88 MK3 in MIDI Mode and I configured that MIDI Notes are sent via Channel 2.

Now when I switch to DAW Mode the Note Messages are sent in Channel 1 and for all previous Note On Messages missing the corresponding Note Off messages,

Note off messages on Channel 2 are sent.

This way when playing and switching to DAW mode the sounding notes are cut off.

I am sure with previous Firmware from 2025 this was not the case.

Is that a feature or a bug?

If that is a feature, why was that introduced?

By the way, is there any possibility to switch templates on the S88 via MIDI ?

Another thought:

I am using Gig Performer and it would be very cool to use the display on the S88 to show audio levels or widget values from Gig Performer.

Found the root cause

In my Ableton Live Set in a track Kontakt7 as plugin is loaded.

When I remove that from the Ableton Live Set then switching to DAW mode does not behave this was as described above

And no Note Off Messages are sent for the Note On messages.

I tried to change the receiving MIDI channel in Kontakt, but that had not effect.

I tested with a different Ableton Live Set that has no Kontakt plugin ⇒ no issue when I switch to DAW mode.

Can you please try to reproduce?

Try turning off the device, deleting the device in macos audio midi setup > midi studio, and then turning the device back on.

If you still have issues please confirm if you have the device configured in midi1 mode or midi2 mode, and if possible provide a log of the raw midi events from midi monitor app.
