FM8 won't open

I installed the FM8 demo, but the standalone version won't open (I launch it, but nothing happens).

In Bitwig 6, the plugin scans with an error and won't launch.
I'm using microsoft visual c++ redistributable 2022-2015, 2013, 2012, 2010 and 2008.
What could be the problem?

I launch the standalone version via a desktop shortcut – no windows open, nothing happens. The mouse cursor changes to a wait state for a second, and that's it.
I tried running as administrator – nothing changes. I tried all of these steps - nothing changed. I tried running FM8 with and without Native Access installed. Nothing changed—the program simply wouldn't launch.

Event Viewer is your friend. It should tell you exactly what is happening - or what is causing errors.

Look for entries based on the system clock and the exact moment you try to launch standalone.

Would also be beneficial to see a screencap of any specifics recorded within Event Viewer.

I have seen errors with this specific file in the past - and usually the solution comes down to an outdated set of Visual C support libraries - however….a question:

What exact version of Windows 11 are you running?

I am on Windows 11 25H2 - updated to the very latest on May 13 (@6:33am):

but my version of ucrtbase.dll - is well behind yours (version wise):

Either you are running a version Windows that is ahead of the rest of the world or you have access to a version of the .dll that is also ahead of what is generally available.

Update when you can.

That is the Preview release - which I do not believe is supported and (most likely) not tested end-to-end either. (if at all)

As a quick test - I would roll back to the version of ucrtbase.dll I posted - and try that one instead.

On my main DAW - I am still running Windows 10 - and the version of ucrtbase.dll on that machine is also much older.

If it works - we have the answer.
