I own a MOTU UIltraLite Mk5, which has multiple outputs.
But for some reason in Komplete Kontrol I cannot select an output.
Is there a way to achieve this?
It's all working here. Make sure the MOTU is not set as default in Windows. Go to audio preferences in Komplete Kontrol and select ASIO for Driver and the MOTU as Device.
I see 22 outputs.
yes I see most of my outputs as well.
But I do not know how to select them.
Sound is only sent to the MAIN outputs and no other outputs.
The Phones outputs are missing in the list (this IS a separate output in the MOTU. In Cubase I can send specific sounds to the Phones outputs and others to the Main output etc.
If i click on the list item MAIN, i can select the “Phones” item, and that changes it. But then I lose the MAIN outputs

Because KK is not a DAW and in standalone, has only 1 audio destination so you can choose to send to your main output OR your headphone output, it does not offer a main and separate preview/monitor output.
Does your interface not have a way to rout any input to the headphone output or pair outputs?
So why on earth does it show more?! Surely it should be aware that it's in standalone mode and only offer one stereo out. 😮
The manual says it has a max of 16 stereo outs. It also says that when used as a plugin, the host manages the outputs, so that page is not shown. Why present all those outs if it can't use them?
The UltraLite does have a whole bunch of onboard routing.
Because it is showing what the interface has available to output to and maybe someone is using their main output on a certain interface as out 5/6 or there is a need to select something that is not the main output? I mean, you CAN select the main output if you wanted to go to the speakers or you could select the Phones output if you wanted it going to headphones.
Open any piece of software that has audio output, it should allow you to select the output from the ones your interface has available, ain't anything special going on. The "Max Stereo Outputs" it refers to is when using in a DAW you can then send multi-output audio plugins via the additional stereo outputs from KK (which there are 16 stereo/32mono available) for bussing or external mixing such as drum plugins, Kontakt or plugins like Omnisphere.
Sure, on the ports dropdown you should be able to see all the channels available on your interface, but it shows multiple outputs for Komplete Kontrol (the left side), when apparently there's only one stereo pair.
IMO if it only offers one output then it should show just Komplete Kontrol L & R
KK only works with a single stereo output for typical use, IE you cannot assign the main out of plugins to go to multiple locations. Not that it would make a lot of sense in standalone use but for multi-out plugins you still can send audio out those additional outputs but you have to setup within the loaded plugin what output each layer of that plugin or which channel (in a drum plugin) goes to which output. I guess if you have an external mixer you can setup this but as for the OPs question, you cannot assign the main output of the loaded plugin to 2 separate audio outputs because the KK host does not do internal mixing.

For me it would be convenient if also in standalone mode i could route to multiple outputs simulaneously.

As mentioned earlier, you can do that on the UltraLite.
Consider getting an outboard mixer as it can make life a lot easier when it comes to things like this. All my channels from my Octacapture head to a mixer (Mackie 1402) so I can send different applications to different outputs and externally mix, especially useful when using a DAW but also using a web browser for instance or just for externally mixing drums etc. Another benefit is if the mixer has a return channel allowing you to play video via one channel, looped back into your audio interface which you can then sample into your DAW. Of course you can use software or internal interface routing to do the same thing but having a mixer where you just press a button is convenient.
