Does pressing the panel normally depress a key?

Question

I'm not sure if this is expected… See video, but basically does pressing the top panel below the next button depress the Eb normally? None of the other keys seem to depress when I press on the panel, and the key works normally when the panel isn't pressed at all, but it doesn't work when I press on the panel. I discovered this quite on accident while playing; I pressed the panel instead of the button I was reaching for and noticed.

Also, I hear a noise when pressing this key that I don't hear on adjacent keys. (second video)

Normal? Or abnormal?

Any idea on cause if it's abnormal?

Thanks, @JesterMgee … That's a bummer if it is what is, but c'est la vie. Support ticket pathways no longer have hardware-related options, so I replied to an old support thread to see.

It probably shouldn't press a key when pressed, but likely nothing you can do other than don't press down on that part hard and it wont be an issue.

The key noise, sadly that appears to happen for some keyboards and is a fault with the dampening strip or gel not being seated correctly so you end up with plastic hitting plastic and that will slowly get worse over time, i'd say it's the most common fault I see posted, not hugely common but it's a physical issue and ideally i'd get it exchanged. Best reason to buy from a store, usually you get a new one exchanged on the spot, if you have to send back to NI they will likely send you a refurbished one and sometimes the quality checks aren't great there either so you may fix that issue but could find another problem.
