whats peoples opinions of leap libraries? theyre cheap but are they any good?
Useful for inspiration I guess. A bunch of basic loops.
Cheap, but even cheaper as part of the new Komplete bundle, so why not? I'm glad I didn't grab them in the 5 for 55 deal 😄
Yesterday I copied them over to my Maschine+ and I'm gradually going through, making up groups/projects. It's a shame I have to do this manually.
reason i asked is because i personally think they are garbage and leap becoming the main focus of new instruments in kontakt is just counter productive for real producers (not loop based producers). no one else replied so i guess no one is interested in leap either. kontakt development is going bakwards. ni should of released leap as a seperate product instead of creating disgruntled kontakt users like me
Well you don't have to use Leap or buy the expansions. Nobody's forcing you!
I only got them as part of Kontakt 8 and part of Komplete 26. I wouldn't buy them separately.
Beginners may find them useful, and we were all beginners once.
well actually youre wrong. i am forced to use leap as default setting in kontakt now without switching pages a bunch of times just to create a new instrument. it never used to be like this
That's not happening here. I just tried it standalone and as a plugin. Leap does not get displayed when Kontakt opens, and even if it was displayed, I am not being forced to use it.
now youre just being difficult. try and create a new instrument in default view then come back with your tail between your legs
Did that just a second ago. Normal as ever. No sign of Leap whatsoever.
Not to discount your issue - but whatever you are seeing is only going on for you - on your machine
And - whatever is “default view” for you - may very well not be for me.
VP
its literally called 'default view'
go to the drop down menu, you can select between 'default view' & classic view. put it default view, this is the view that ni are on record saying this is the default view going forward and classic view will fizzle out in the future.
now create a'new' instrument by double clicking in an empty space, what happens?
double clicking always created a new instrument up until kontakt 8. now it creates a leap instrument. there is no option in the menu for new instrument anymote, just new leap preset. you have to toggle to 'classic view' to create a new instrument
unless of course you are using an older version of kontakt pre 8
….but you're not being forced to choose default view, and you don't have to double click in an empty space. I've just opened default view here, and all my instruments are listed under "Select Product".
I select one of those and it loads. No Leap.
what dont you understand about creating a new instrument? the irony of having expert written next to your username lol
What you do not seem to understand - is "terminology"
When you are IN "Default View" like so (1):
Your only option IN this view - is a "new" Leap Preset (2)
There is no option to create a "new instrument" in this view
Conversely - when in Classic View (1):
Your only option IN this view - is to create a "new" instrument.
And there is no option to create a Leap Preset in this view.
As @PK The DJ has noted - just because are in Default View - does not automatically mean you can create "instruments". Takes a half a second to switch between views.
If you do not want to deal with any excessive "switching" back and forth - AND want to do nothing but create instruments all day long - do what I do - stay in Classic view until it is retired.
Or install Kontakt 7.10 and use that.
You have multiple options - but instead of choosing one and carrying on - seems you simply do not like any of them and just want to complain instead.
@dogbreath11 I did not choose to have "expert" next to my name. The forum did that. Also it does not mean I'm an expert in everything. I've never created a new instrument in Kontakt, and I suspect most people never do.
Also fascinating that this user started what seemed like a reasonable thread on opinions on Leap and then (as usual) finds a way to twist the thread in a mini rant about something completely unrelated. Just once it would be refreshing to stay on point.
you cant reason with stupid so im not going to even try. i literally just explained to you that the view is called 'default view' and you came up with some nonsense about how my defaut view might not be the same as someone elses. in previous versions of kontakt it was called create new instrument. are you really this thick? did you put your glasses on to read my original posts? i suggest you read them again genius, start with this one….
"
Your "Default" view - is exactly the same as my Default View.
The key differences here are:
On point # 2 - you cannot. And have never been able to with Kontakt 8
Therefore - once you sort out this out:
Default View = New Leap Preset
and then press F10
Classic View = New Instrument
All will be well.
My Kontakt 8.10 is in Classic View 24x7x365. There is no concept of ever being in Default view whatsoever. All I did is hit F10 when I installed K8 last June and that is it. VP
