AV problem with Kontakt 8 update

Hi there,

When I recently tried to update Kontakt 8, I received a message from "Virus & Threat Protection Settings" that a file had been blocked. I then have to go to "Virus & Threat Protection Settings" > "Exclusions" and add the file type as an exclusion. Unfortunately, I often don't know where to look for the file to add it to the "Exclusions" list.

Can someone please help me?

Mostly then these problems is with F-Secure based AVs (I use one myself) , that is complaining about the NI installers doing some self-copy operation while doing the install.

I had this problem latest when trying to install the latest update for Traktor Pro 4 , and I promptly advised a NI employee of the problem per PM. Alas my PM apparently were ignored - at least I received no response.

The problem is usually occurring on my computer when trying to install or update Traktor Pro , Komplete Kontrol , Maschine or Kontakt and only the NI software gives these problems.

At the moment then the only work around is that if you trust NI enough then turn off the AV while installing the app/update. I am in no position to tell you to turn off the AV and of course then NI ought to make the necessary changes to their installer functionality but for whatever reason the NI do not appear interested in doing that since these problems have been occurring for quite a while..

You can try contacting N.I. Support but I would expect them to tell you to turn off your AV while installing.

P.S:

Once that you have had such a problem then you might have to Repair or uninstall-reinstall the software…
