Can't figure out how to get FL Studio's Piano Roll to control Kontakt note volume

I'm using Kontakt from FL Studio. Normally, in FL Studio, the Piano Roll allows you to control the volume of a given note by adjusting the Note Velocity in the Controls area. However, in almost all cases, regardless of which Kontakt instrument I choose, the Note Velocity doesn't have any effect on the volume of notes in the Piano Roll.

I've searched a bit on this, and I see resources vaguely telling me to manually "map" the note velocity to the volume, but I don't see any concrete way to do this.

Is there a relatively easy way to get the Piano Roll's note velocity control to work with Kontakt 8 instruments? Thanks.

Velocity is just a message (actually part of the note-on message). How it is interpreted depends entirely on the programming of the instrument.

If it's not programmed for volume, there is probably a good reason for that. If you have access to editing (spanner in top LH corner rack view) you can try adding velocity modulation of volume (see manual), though if the instrument is heavily scripted, it may not work properly. You'll need the full version of Kontakt and an instrument that allows editing.

Are you having this issue with all Kontakt instruments or specific ones? Can you give us some examples? Most of ther libraries have a totally normal reaction to velocity information, either through what sample is played or volume. There is only a few where that would be different. What kind of keyboard or controller are you using? Have you checked outside of FL Studio, with Kontakt in standalone?
