Hi everyone,
I'm having a strange issue with Kontakt 8 in Cubase 12 Pro and I'm hoping someone can help.
Setup:
HP EliteDesk 800 G5 TWR
Windows 10, 32GB RAM
Cubase 12 Pro
Kontakt 8
PreSonus AudioBox USB (ASIO driver, buffer size 128)
Arturia Minilab 3 as MIDI controller
The problem:
When I record MIDI using Minilab 3 and play back Kontakt 8 instruments, the sound is noticeably different from what I hear while playing – it sounds muddy and has a phaser-like effect. This happens with ALL Kontakt instruments.
What works fine:
Notes drawn manually in Piano Roll sound clean on playback
Analog Lab V instruments recorded with Minilab 3 sound fine
Pattern-based tracks (drums, bass, guitar) sound fine
What I have already tried:
Reduced buffer size from 512 to 128 samples
Disabled and enabled ASIO-Guard
Disabled extra Minilab 3 MIDI inputs in MIDI Port Setup (it had 4 active inputs)
Set Kontakt MIDI channel from Omni to channel 1
Checked Controller Lane in Piano Roll – only velocity data, no Pitch Bend or Modulation recorded
Set all velocities to 90 – no difference
Checked Audio Connections – single Stereo Out, no duplicates
Control Room is empty
No effects on channels or inside Kontakt instruments
Exported audio mixdown – problem is present in the exported file too
Tested with Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver – same problem
Tested with a brand new empty project – same problem
Any ideas what could be causing this? Thank you!
