User Library in Massive X

How come the user library in Massive X is quite bad. I wish I had the ability to organize presets in folders, but even when a couple of folders are created, Massive X just lists all the presets together, and yes I know there's the "Sound Type" and "Character" which is kinda fine, I just wish the library could be more structured with the ability to create folders… that's all

The latest update to Komplete Kontrol 3 added the ability to act as a metadata editor for multiple NI products including anything that uses variations of the NKS format such as Massive X and Absynth 6. Just multi select the patches you want grouped into a bank (shift click to select a range of patches, cmd click to select multiple patches) - then open the info panel and click on the edit mode toggle top right - you can add banks and sub banks, author names and even patch notes (don't change the product or Brand fields though or the patches will now show under Massive X).

Anything you edit here will also show in Massive X after a rescan.

You can also add your own icons by adding a thumbnail in the format 128x128 'MST_artwork.png' to the folder '/Users/Shared/NI Resources/image/your bankname' (that's Mac - I think the Windows path is something like '\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources\image\your bankname')

Once you have done this your user library should look more like this:

Hi Kymeia, as far as I can see sub banks are only shown in Komplete Kontrol but not in Massive X where I just can see the (main) banks I created in KK. Is that true?
If yes, do you know if the NKSF Preset Banker App you recommended in Sept. 2025 (https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/47666/tip-how-to-make-your-own-banks-in-massive-x) provides sub banks within Massive X as well?

I’ve never tried adding them to Massive X but that’s an interesting find, thanks. I just thought there was no mechanism for displaying sub banks in the Mx browser

But if preset banker can add them so too should Komplete Kontrol - they access the same fields

Yes, but then it affects Massive X more than KK or Preset Banker, right? So it seems that we have no direct solution here as Massive X obviously does not inherit a preset's assignment to a certain sub bank made in KK or simply does not indicate it: the information panel of a preset in MX has just a field for the bank but none for a sub bank (is this what you meant?)

So, it obviously needs to create one user bank for pads, one for leads, one for basses in Komplete Kontrol …

Yes that's what I meant - you can create sub banks in KK or preset banker and they show in KK (I had already done that for my own patches), but there is no place for sub banks in Massive X.

I thought you were saying if you add them in Preset banker they do show in Mx - that would have been interesting but I don't think it works that way (as you have found).
