Massive X doesn't install

Question

Hi

I've just rebuilt my W11 PC after a HDD crash. It's a clean install. Massive X doesn't install. It goes through the motions and shows as installed on Native Access, however it doesn't appear in my plug-ins list in Ableton. I have checked in C:\Program Files\Native Instruments and although there is a folder for Massive X it only contains a sub folder with documentation in it. All the other items install happily (instuments and effects).

I have tried uninstalling via Add/Remove programmes and checking the json file has been deleted and then re-installing via Native Access with restarts between but without any success. The system seems to automatically remove the install folder and json file when I uninstall via Add/Remove. I have tried more than once!

I have also tried the NI registry removal tool after uninstalling via Add/Remove but the Massive X entry had already been automatically removed.

Everything seems to happen corectly, except nothing (apart from the documentation folder) gets written to my PC.

Am I missing something here or can anyone suggest any help?

My apologies if thsi is already in the knowledge base. I have tried searching but have found nothing.

That is as it is supposed to be , Massive X is a plugin only

however it doesn't appear in my plug-ins list in Ableton.

Massive X installs as VST3 in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3  , please check that location.

Also check your Ableton Live VST3 settings.

I re-installed Massive X for the Nth time. Checked the vst3 folder and watched the Massive X vst appear as it should. I checked Ableton's plug-in switches and look up locations and they seemed fine, I ran a rescan and Massive X appeared.

I'm not entirely sure why it worked this time, possibly me walking away from the computer for a while helped - possibly the mere thought of your expert intervention has woven its magic but whatever the reason I am extremely grateful for your help.

From your description then I am not sure either.  But what I can say is that with respect to Ableton Live then I think that sometimes one need to use deep re-scans.  (hold ALT/Option and click "Rescan.")    Also then if a plugin appear where it is supposed to be and the DAW can not find it then what has often helped is to move the plugin out of the DAW scan range , then do a new deep scan with the plugin not there , and then after that move the plugin back into scan range and do yet another deep scan.
