I would like to report a confirmed regression affecting Komplete Kontrol S88 MK2 in combination with Cubase on Windows.
Hardware
Software / OS
- Windows 11 Pro (25H2)
- Cubase Pro 12 / 13 / 14 (same behavior)
- Komplete Kontrol (current version)
Problem description
After installing the Windows Preview Update KB5074105 (2026-01), the mixer meters on the S88 display in Cubase no longer update in parallel.
Instead, the level meters update sequentially / round-robin (left/right per channel, channel by channel), resulting in visibly unstable and incorrect metering.
Important observations:
- The issue occurs in Cubase only
- The same S88 works correctly in Maschine on the same system
- The same S88 works correctly on another system with Windows 10 + Cubase Pro 12
- Hardware is fully functional (display, controls, MIDI)
- Reinstalling Cubase and NI software did not resolve the issue
Confirmed root cause
Uninstalling Windows Update KB5074105 immediately restores correct mixer metering behavior on the S88 in Cubase.
This strongly indicates a regression introduced by the Windows preview update, likely related to HID / scheduling / timing behavior affecting DAW-to-controller feedback.
Current workaround
- KB5074105 uninstalled
- Windows preview updates blocked via Group Policy
Purpose of this report
I am reporting this for:
- compatibility tracking
- internal reproduction
- possible escalation to Microsoft
Best regards
