Distorted Sounds

I have Komplete Audio 2 which I am using with Kontakt 8 Player. I have been trying out the tools, Phrases and Patterns. All was fine but now when I try to play some instruments eg. Piano Uno, Ireland Bouzouki I don't hear the proper sound just a very distorted sound. I have reinstalled Kontakt 8 Player and the Komplete ASIO driver, restarted computer with only Kontakt running but problem persists. I thought that perhaps I had inadvertently turned on some effect but can't find anything. These problems are when I am trying to play the instrument from Kontakt keyboard. Any ideas please?

Hello,

do you have the asio driver selected within kontakts prefs and what is the buffer size, you should be able to open the control panel from there and see the exact settings for the interface. This might also help:

Thanks UWE303. I'm using ASIO driver which is up to date. With Kontakt Player, there is no buffer size, or option to go to Native control panel. I have an override buffer size set to 60 Kb. Thanks for the info about setting up interface. I've checked these but not yet looked at Latency monitor.

I'm thinking that it may be something changed within Kontakt itself. My Irish Bouzouki sounds like a distorted guitar now. It did work previously. Only some instruments seem to be affected.

@Geoff Pitter Can you share a screenshot of your audio settings in Kontakt and this buffer size?

If you load a video on Youtube or use another app and play sound throught the soundcard, do you also get distortion? If you have several audio applications running at the same time, do they all have the same sample rate? In your Windows audio settings?

Thanks Jeremy. I really don't think that this is a hardware issue. I can load Kontakt 8 as a plug-in in my DAW and these instruments sound perfect. It is only when I play them from Kontakt 8 Player that it doen't sound right. See screenshots, one using Kontakt 8 PLayer as a plugin and one Kontakt 8 player standalone. I wanted to send sample WAV files so that you can hear difference but not sure how to achieve that.

You have asio set as audio interface driver in your DAW and kontakt stand alone?

I'm not implying this is a hardware issue, it does look like a software issue and the audio settings on the several applications asked can help to see where the problem would come from.

Can you let us know which driver is selected, what sample frequency is used and what buffer size for Kontakt, what of these settings in your DAW and same settings for your Windows audio settings. Thank you.

These are settings for DAW and Kontakt 8. I can't find a Windows buffer size but the Komplete Audio Line and Speakers are set to 48100 Hz
