Can you do locks on the computer software without hardware?

I'm sitting here preparing and cleaning up some groups on my laptop without my M+ nearby.

Setting up group macros and naming them etc. (Can't do that on M+ hardware right?)

But... I'd like to be able to still use the Lock feature so i can test some of these macros quickly while i make them.

Is it possible to do Locks in the software only?
