Running under Komplete Kontrol software and Cubase 15
I have komplete kontrol S88 mk iii
I run the synth but it does not respond to poly input from keyboard
I set the keyboard mono, the mono works but it responds in poly mode !!!
Why?
Yes in MPE mode you use mono aftertouch because the keyboard doesn't support MPE - so turn MPE off for Poly to work unless you are using a MPE keyboard
Which version of Cubase are you using? Absynth 6 does support poly aftertouch so it should work ok as long as the patch you're using supports it.
Make sure the aftertouch is set to poly in the Assign panel
and MPE is OFF for the NI keyboard (I have to toggle this to ON when using my Seaboard keyboards)
@Kymeia Do any of the A6 patches have poly aftertouch enabled do you know? Or do we need to assign it when required?
Yes quite a few do - many of the ones by Ocean Swift and some by Spektralisk for example - one that you can hear it very clearly is Alien Spaceship
Thanks for the replies - I have two attachments
Note:
I can only get aftertouch to work with:
1.Monophonic
2. In the synth, I have polyphonic after touch and MPE on (glow light, not dimmed)
Thank you
If I turn MPE off it does not exhibit aftertouch behavior when the keyboard is in aftertouch poly mode. I have to switch to monophonic on the keyboard with MPE turned on in the synth. That is a mystery I am trying to understand.
OK I can hear it but there's a lot going on in that patch so it may be hard to make out - lets try a simpler one where it is more distinct - try Additive Piano
That cleared it up ! Additive Piano - Aftertouch Poly on the keyboard firmware. Poly aftertouch lit on the assign tab and MPE turned off on the macro panel. Still baffles me how I got it to respond when the keyboard was set to mono aftertouch in the previous preset discussed above. Obviously I am missing something in my understanding …. I just went back to that preset (Alien) and the only way I get aftertouch behavior (to my ear) on that was Is to switch the keyboard to poly and turn MPE off on the synth. The poly aftertouch on the assign tab does not seem to matter one way or the other on the Alien spaceship. It is probably some interaction inside the preset. I noted I could get aftertouch on the piano also with monophonic set, MPE on.
I have a Roli Piano as well as a Seaboard and think the aftertouch needs a lot more pressure with the NI keyboard than it does with the Roli Piano and is harder to get as clear a response from with Absynth 6
Did you get the Airwave for the Roli? And what's the Roli like as a normal keyboard as well as w
No because it's a whopping great thing that for me would be right in front of my large display
It's pretty good - the aftertouch is more controllable than on the NI keyboard, it does poly pitchbend - that takes a bit of practice. The build quality is better than I expected - the construction is very solid - it's actually quite heavy. So not as portable as my Seaboard block. I find the key surfaces are a bit slippy but you get used to it.
Thanks all for the help
All my problems went away when I updated the Komplete Kontrol Keyboard firmware from 2.0.4 t o 2.0.7.
Also my KSMK3 firmware update utility did not know there was a 2.0.7
When I when to the downloads section and re-installed that utility it immediately knew there was a firmware update available .
Again Thanks all who responded with help
