Digital Performer channel volume controlling volume

Hi.. newbie to community. Just installed Picked Nylon Guitar and having an issue where DP channel in mixer is not controlling volume . Moving the relevant fader does nothing. This has never been an issue with any other NI instrument loaded into Kontakt (8). I know a workaround is to instantiate a new Kontakt and load only the PNG, then using the Kontakt channel volume to control. This is an option I'd like not to exerise. Wondering if anyone else has this issue with DP or any other DAW. Thanks!

Not being familiar with Digital Performer I'm having a hard time understanding how the guitar plugin is being loaded into the DAW. In Ableton and any other DAW I've used each plugin instrument gets loaded and assigned to the track and can be controlled from the DAW's track volume fader or the main output fader. Is that how you're doing it?

Hey DunedinDragon… thanks for your response. Pretty much yes. I just picked up PN and it's the only Kontakt Instrument that is not responding to volume changes using the DAW channel strip assigned to it. As I am writing, I have an instance of Kontakt 8 up with the New York piano and Picked Nylon guitar loaded… each assigned their own midi channel. The Piano track fader in DP is responding as it should. The Picked Nylon.. nothing. So.. I need to load another instance of Kontakt with only the PN loaded, and control the volume via the Kontakt instrument fader. This shouldn't be. I'll try using Kontakt 7 but that's just a hail mary.

I definitely haven't had anything like that occur in any of my projects, but I'm a bit confused by your statement of "assigned to their own MIDI channel". Normally in my current or previous DAWs the faders only operate on the currently selected track. Is that different in DP?

How would you set their volume and pan levels for all tracks if control was only on currently selected track. How would you set up a midi mix? Ok.. I load an instance of Kontakt, then load the Picked Nylon into Kontakt, I assign it a midi channel, say 1, create a midi track in DP, assign that track's output to Kontakt Midi channel 1, record enable so I can play the PN. Ok all good up to now. NOw when I move pan or fader on that midi track, nothing happens. This is unusual as it is the only Kontakt instrument that is not responding to volume or pan data.

I'm following you up unil you assign a MIDI channel track and that may just be a difference between DP and Ableton. Normally Kontakt sends on OMNI so it's already isolated to the track I drop it on in Ableton as shown below marked as 'All Channels'.

For each track I adjust the volume and pan to the right on that library track where I've loaded PN. I could also choose to adjust it within the instrument controls on the plugin, but normally I would do it in the main project layout to align everything the way I want them across the various instruments I have loaded in that project. Again that's Abelton, but that's kind of the general approach used on all the other DAWs I've used in the past. I don't know how, if at all it's done that way in DP. I would kind of assume if you target a specific MIDI channel there might be a disconnect with MIDI control data passing between the DAW and the Kontakt library. If I were approaching it your way I would typically change the 'Main' output on that channel to the specific one being used in PN, but I've never tried it that way.

You've just described pretty much what I do (and best tried to explain). Yes the input is "all channels" or "any" which is what I have in DP. Just so I'm understanding correctly… If you leave your instrument in "omni" within Kontakt.. then it's broadcasting out on all channels. That creates a problem if you want to add instruments into the same instance of Kontakt. So you are playing PN as the only instrument in your instance of Kontakt? Anyway.. Yes! my issue is I cannot adjust volume and pan "on that library track". "Channel fader" was the term I used for adjusting.. same thing. PN not responding. So.. a friend of mine suggested the midi learn function when you right click on PN's pan or fader (in Kontakt). Just moving the track/channel fader or pan knob then "learns" to control volume or pan. Problem solved but shouldn't have to be a workaround. Again.. it's the only Kontakt instrument that doesn't automatically respond to the most basic of CC's.
