Just an FYI for NI

Just wanted to let you know that I'm running Cubase Pro 15.0.6 and I had some serious bugs when I first started using. I couldn't narrow them down, but replacing my NVidia Game driver for the Studio driver resolved most of them.

Now, I still get GUI lag, even with no NI instruments running, and it goes away if I power toggle my KKMK3. I've sent tickets and dumps to Steinberg. Please let me know if there's anything I could do to help on your side of things.

Komplete Kontrol MK3 is directly connected to dedicated USB-C port on Motherboard.

No issue like this in Live, FL, Reason, Renoise….
I have tried other ports. Mainly when I first got it. Bought a hub for it. The most stable connection is the one on the motherboard

USB3 SSDs (for Libraries and VST2 plugins)

Is not helping matters.

Having any content on a USB3 drive is about as slow as it can get - outside of an old rust spinner (HDD).

Also - bear in mind that you are using a 2018 motherboard with a 2025 graphics card - these two are almost a decade apart from each other and for me - would not make an ideal match.

There is most certainly something going on here - but I doubt it is specific to NI stuff or even Cubase 15 - which would have never been tested on the lopsided combo like you have here.

Finally - the board - while just "barely" Win 11 compliant - was designed for the best OS of the day in mid 2018 when this board was released - Windows 10.

Jamming Win 11 25H2 on here is going way outside the aisle in terms of testing - almost a guarantee that this board was never tested and as such - there could be all sorts of potential problems just waiting.

Just because an OS "can" be installed - does not mean it is the best choice in any given scenario.

Speed isn't a requirement here. If I need it to be faster, I put in on a drive directly connected to the motherboard.

Not the first time, or the last time I've upgraded to a new OS on an older motherboard. You do realize that manufactures update drivers and firmware for older motherboards also, right? And I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that a fair amount of win11 a dressed up win10.

I've got newer mobos here, being used for other applications, and this wouldn't be the first time I've gotten a lecture on my setup. Difference is, I'm more reluctant to take advice such as this, when spending money on an upgrade produces no change. I've heard it all before. Thanks for the reply, but I doubt this will write me off 😆

Fair enough.

But you also can't expect the crew here to roll out the red carpet to try to support such an odd combo. You gotta do what you gotta do - but there are accepted baseline system requirements that all of this stuff is tested against.

If you are having bizarre problems (as above) and no one else is - if that isn't enough of a hint - I guess there is not much anyone can do.

Again - simply because you cobbled together a box full of odd parts spanning almost ten years and then installed a Windows OS released just 8 weeks ago on it - does not automatically make it a supported PC configuration.

Been a builder here since 2001 - and I can safely say I have seen it all - but I have never used parts this far apart in vintage in any build. A custom PC logically works best when everything in it - is actually designed to be in it.

You are correct of course.

But if you hang out here long enough - you will also notice that no one is running what you are running and no one is really experiencing what you are experiencing either. Your post is the first I have seen with this specific issue.

That said - if there was a rampant "lag" issue to speak of - as your initial post documents - we probably would have known about it long ago.

It may be hard to fathom - but maybe your rig is just slow and not designed for 2025 standards. Not much anyone can do about that.

Just as I don't mean to be obvious. Please take what you will from the conversation.

But respectfully - I am not sure what you are expecting anyone to do. If your rig is acting strange - with this specific combo of parts - that does not necessarily constitute any sort of problem with the S-Series or anything else quite frankly.

There are millions of hardware configs out there - many work fine but some - simply do not.

I still do not see how this is a problem for NI to solve. Are you are expecting them to replicate your 2018 rig and start testing the S-Series MKIII with it?

What exactly is this "FYI" is intended to achieve?

Maybe you should ask your self what an FYI is to you. It's simply information. If NI decides to explore it further, fine. If they don't, fine. To be quite honest, our conversation is probably the only reason this thread is still alive. And that's fine too, I just think you're hung up on what you seem to insist my expectations are.

I did buy external power and a hub to use it on my iPad. When I get a chance to try it, I'll report back.
If I remember right, I did upgrade my PC's hub since then also. I'll give that a go too.

I am not really hung up on anything.

Folks usually post on these forums because they have an issue and then engage the crew in here for suggestions, ideas etc.

I made an observation on where I believe your issue lies - and you did not like the suggestion. And that's totally fine.

But if you are saying you do not have an actual issue - then I clearly have misunderstood your post.
