In the Owner Manual is described, that standalone use without a PC is possible as a normal midicontroller between MK2 and other hardware synths. Why is it not possible? MK2 sends only midichanel 1?
But you can play the keys? And yes without computer you can't change it, like it's described in the manual. You could use a small program like midi-ox to route midi from the keyboard to the physical output (midi din) then you even can use different midi channels and switch them with presets for example. But that midi keyboard is not the greatest if it comes to stand alone use. The MK3 ones can do that very good, even with arp and chord generation in stand alone use.
Hello,
that´s a very good question, functions like this should simply be there and just work. In stand alone mode you can´t edit the midi template, it´s all fixed and you can see the midi cc´s in the manual under chapter 9.4. You could use a laptop and then use your personal midi templates and change templates and so on but not in stand alone mode. The mk3 series can do that but every midi keyboard should be able to output midi data as i need it. Here you have the data for the midi cc´s in stand alone mode please look at chapter 9.4:
KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series MK2 Manual
Thanks for your answer. I've tried, but no success. I think that they made here not a good job. But thanks!
Cam you describe your exact setup while trying it. It should be just the power brick, the keyboard and then from din midi into a synth. Then you should at least be able to play some notes.
i used a power brick and use two Desktop synths. Im not able to use different Midi Channels only channel 1
I can play the keys and thats all. Thanks for your answers. I think, a midi keybord for 50€ is more flexible…. Have a nice day and merry christmas!
Unfortunately true if it comes to stand alone use - have a nice day too merry christmas 🎁 🎄
