Can we please have the old browser style back as an alternative choice to the current mode?

Once upon a time, browsing and editing patches in KK while also being able to favorite and manage them was the norm. Then it went away, for reasons never sufficiently explained. After years of messing about having to constantly switch back and forth between the patch mode and the browser mode, I am absolutley sick of it. Can you please find a way to retain the ability to do both at once, as it was in the before times? You don't even have to change what's there now, just make the old way an "option" or a "choice." That way, nobody's feelings get hurt. But please, do something about it before I lose my goddamn mind. Thank you.

This has been an open request now for going on three years...

The only good solution is to continue to use KK v2.9.6 (like I do) - but I understand that may not be an option if you own a MKIII keyboard…

One of the very few software applications that seems to have gotten more unusable as it progresses.

It took us 3 years to get a bug fixed where the Sub Bank selector didn't show, for me it's a better option to not even use my MK3 keyboard and stick with my MK2 literally so I can keep using the v2 software. in a DAW project the flow and efficiency is far better.

Maybe in another 3 years we may see some movement there but I wouldn't hold your breath for improvements, even tho almost everyone agrees.

The model (and probably codebase) for the current Komplete Kontrol browser was derived from Kontakt 7's library browser but even Kontakt 8 now has a side browser option because it makes more sense, both for browsing but also as it facilitates drag and drop of samples. So the model for a new side pane browser in Komplete Kontrol is already there and clearly there is a strong use case for it.

And please give KK3 a "Preset Explorer" with 2D map as found in Absynth 6.

The models for browsing improvements exist within other NI products.

As the hub for all things NKS and NI hardware controllers, KK3 needs evolution ASAP.

What am I missing here? How is the current Edit View different than what was in the previous KK other than it expands the usage into multiple instruments, Tools, Leap and One Shots?

Hes talking about the way KK V2 displays a persistent preset browser on the side along with the plugin view. Kk V3 instead switched between plugin view and browser view which many find clunky to use. THis applies when using the software itself and not the keyboard.

But that's exactly what the Edit View does in KK V3.

That's why I'm confused. You can add or replace other libraries as well as change the presets all from that one view without going back to the other page. If you have Alicia's Keys showing, for example, and you hit the 'x' to delete it, the main presets display list goes back to display all your available instruments where you can audition presets and double click to load any preset along with that instrument.

But is that not the KONTAKT browsing screen within KK?

Show us how you do the same for a 3rd party VST? or browse through presets for a different instrument while viewing another one?

I don't have KK V3 to test with but last time I tested you could not do what you show in non-kontakt libraries

No it's the same display your normally have but the list of instruments shows up on the left side of the display.

That's the Kontakt 8 side browser - not the non existent Komplete Kontrol 3 side browser

That is what is confusing, Kontakt shows the side browser as does Maschine, as did KK v2. KK V3 when browsing OTHER libraries that are outside of Kontakt do not. What you are showing are all Kontakt instruments within Kontakt, just happens to be inside KK.

You are confused because Kontakt is showing you what you would expect to see, but I bet you cannot browse and select anything from that screen for say, Battery or Massive let alone for any 3rd party instrument.

Well it's the same Kontakt Side View browser hosted within KK but functionally the same. As far as 3rd party instruments it's the same as always if it's NKS compatible. Aperture is 3rd party from Spitfire Audio. Things like Maschine aren't there, but those are typically loaded direct into the DAW. Some Spitfire Audio libraries aren't NKS compatible and some are. Non NKS Spitfire Audio libraries are loaded into their Spitfire host within the DAW. Maybe someday that will change but that's the world we live in now.

It's like the old saying in the software development business. The great thing about standards is there's so many of them….
