FCB 1010 Connectivity to GR7

I have watched all the videos and read everything I could find on the subject. I am attempting to control GR7 via the FCB1010 with Uno using an Alesis IO4 MIDI interface. I can send and receive Sysex files and can verify connection via several FCB1010 editing tools, including the licensed one and www.FCB1010.online, but I cannot make the "Learn" function work in GR7, 6, or 5. Is there some way to see the data flow to and from GR7? Is there some piece of middleware I am missing? There is no driver for the Alesis. Is there any connection to my inability to enable the MIDI check box in the attached image? So many questions. I know I am so close.

Have you tried using a utility like MIDI-OX to check that the interface is working properly? That'll let you see what messages are being sent to Windows from the interface.

I have tried to use it, but it's another tool I have to understand to make sense of what I'm seeing. I need to spend time with it. Sysex files are being transferred, for instance, shown by ( https://mountainutilities.eu/fcb1010)

I don't have one of these, but have been thinking about getting one. So I took a look at the user manual.

First off, I don't see this device as needing any firmware updates or anything like that, so that's one thing off your mind.

1. How do you have the FCB 1010 hooked up? I mean physically what cables do you use and where do you have them plugged in? For example, are they plugged in directly to your audio interface's midi serial ports, or is it plugged in to some other device?

2. Did you change the settings as indicated in section 2.2 of the user manual? It looks like you've changed it to use MIDI channel 4. What other options were there? And if any, what other settings did you change?

Remember, you need something LISTENING to channel 4 in order to be able to receive MIDI note and CC data.

3. Other than the channel, did you override any of those settings as indicated in section 2.2.1 and 2.2.2? If so, what settings did you make?

4. If you haven't made any changes to the unit, can you go into those settings and see what they are?

5. And can you find it as an eligible input device in the settings panel for things like Kontakt, Maschine (if you have it), or a DAW?

I'm intrigued by the FCB, and I hope you can get it going. I might be tempted to get one for myself.

if you use some daw you also can use this as midi monitor, just record some automation there you could also check what midi cc´s you have on every switch and so on. Maybe the id4 is occupied by another software so that´s why you can´t activate it and then of course learn will not work, the tick box has to be checked for sure in order for it to work. And i guess you use 1.0.4?

the UNO chip he uses can be updated it´s an extension chip so you can do more with the FCB1010 than with the original system chip - as far as i know.

Got it working, don't know what I did differently. I have noticed that the change preset seems slow, like 5 seconds. Maybe I'm inpatient, but I suppose it takes a while relatively to parse the list and render that update.
