can absynth 6 connect directly to mk3 keyboards without the need for komplete kontrol software? in the same way that kontakt 8 does?
thanks
Doubtful. I would think if it was a thing - it would have been a top 5 item listed on the website with todays' debut for sure.
VP
Not at this time.
Direct Connection is so far only available in KK3, K7 and K8.
We may bring it to more software, but are first working on bringing more hardware to the software, if that makes any sense.
thats a shame. ive totally uninstalled komplete kontrol software as its just unusable for me since 2.9.
please make all ni instruments direct connect, in all honesty i dont use them, the preset system is just not as good as something like a simple folder structure that i can navigate with qwerty keys like uhe/cherry audio/synapse…….
id like to be able to use my investment (mk3) but im not going anywhere near kk3.x software sorry. i would of upgraded if absynth 6 was direct connect and id probably use massive x if that was direct connect. until then im just going to stick with other brands
It does, but a quite obscure one 😂
Are you referring to an enlargement of the pool of third party HW working with KK or to HW working with Absynth (and if, how?)?
The other brands are not Direct Connect either? Don't quite understand that point.
We have at least added better VST integration in various DAWs as of the latest Kontrol S MK3 firmware update. That should help somewhat, albeit not as good as Direct Connect.
We will likely never make all NI instruments Direct Connect - this would also imply a lot of work on legacy titles. But certainly it remains possible we'll do this for a few newer titles.
Larger pool with deeper integrations.
yes, but i can use the qwerty keyboard to flick thru presets in a simple drag and drop folder structure using other brands. it is not possible to browse presets in ni instruments just by pressing up/down on a qwerty keyboard. this is way quicker than using komplete kontrol
i dont want to have to scroll and browse thru presets that belong to other instruments while using one specific synth. it slows down the process which makes it counter productive for me. this is why i would like direct connect with my mk3 so i can use the next/previous buttons without havinbg to first filter out all other presets
You can make a template (midi only) for Absynth in Komplete Kontrol… or Maschine… or Controller editor… i think
Thought Matthew summed it up perfectly. NI are not offering Direct Connect at this time for Absynth.
Komplete Kontrol works great for AS6 and I am sure more is coming for it. I do wonder - if have no intentions of ever using Komplete Kontrol - not exactly sure why you bought an S-Series MKIII. VP
Or on the Kontrol S MK3 directly, if need be
I have had a kkmk3 for over a year and have never used kk software,I do use it with maschine , its also a good midi controller for hardware, tho I’ve not used that side of it yet , but looks easy to set up a template from the controller , don’t know how it compares to what else is out there atm , but I’d imagine only the novation controller is comparable , or maybe something from nektar
Yeah - again do not get it.
If you have no intent on ever using KK - there is a plethora of much better controllers out there to choose from.
One could certainly set up a MIDI template, yes.
Although, you'd be limited to the resolution provided by MIDI (128 steps) vs the resolution provided by direct NKS control (millions of steps).
That's one reason why it is (or rather, would be) so nice.
Yep, one of the main reasons that i bought my KK S49 was to (finally!) escape from the Midi limitations; A dream since the mid-90's!
because its the only midi keyboard controller on the market with poly after touch dur
stop trying to force your ideals on other people, you already have a reputation of being difficult and obnoxious, youre very condescending and quite frankly its boring. if you dont understand why people do what they do thats a you problem lol
dunce
Another way of getting round using Komplete Kontrol is to use the firmware 2 capabilities, if you have a MkIII Kontrol keyboard that is. Then you can create mappings in your host, and some hosts - notably Bitwig - also use host automation to do this, not MIDI. Here are the Bitwig remote controls I created for this - the nice thing is (unlike with Massive X) the plugin passes on the Macro name per patch to the host, so it auto updates on the keyboard screen when you change patches
Absynth 6 Synth
Absynth 6 FX
You can also do similar in Live and Cubase - although I don’t have Cubase and Live doesn’t have a means of sharing mappings as easily as Bitwig
