I just purchased a S88 and had it briefly connected to Kontakt 8 in Ableton Live 12.3 yesterday. I cannot replicate this and have no idea why it won't work now. There is clearly power to it, but the screen doesn't change from "Default MIDI Template." I had trouble with the firmware updater yesterday, but eventually it worked. Today it won't recognize the S88 again. I've tried * Moving the USB C "Host" cable to different ports and "flipping it" * Turning off USB Selective Suspend Setting and using a USB Hub * Opening KK and Kontakt as separate instances I checked Device Manager and the "DFU Kontrol," USB Controller device doesn't show up. I know Windows 10 doesn't have support any more, but I'm assuming Windows updates aren't the issue? I've read that some people need to use the USB C "power only," port, but it was working yesterday, so I'm not sure? Any help is appreciated. I've been wanting to buy this MIDI keyboard for a long time and it's been so deflating not having it work.

I've tried

Hi everyone. I have absolutely no idea what changed, but it's working now even without a separate power usb c cable. I rebooted a few times and it started working again last night. For the record, I built my own PC tower and it's a beast. I'm sure the S88 is getting enough power.

Device Manager started recognizing the device last night under "Universal Serial Bus Devices" rather than "controllers."

If it gives me trouble again I will plug in a separate power source. Thanks!

You almost definitely need to provide additional power to the USB C power only port. Start with this and see how you get on.

I have pretty much the same configuration as you do and I ended up having to use a separate wall wart power plug I scrounged off of an old laptop rather than running power from the USB port on my Windows machine. As you experienced it was always flaky using the USB power and now stable and works consistently and has for over a year now.

Great to hear. We would still definitely recommend either to plug it to the power source as well or to use a proper USB C hub to avoid issues in the future.
