Different instruments have very different preview volumes. I know there is a volume slider at the bottom of the KK browser window but this affects all plugins. The issue is adjusting/balancing different instruments to have similar volumes. Some plugins, such as Noire, are extremely / dangerously loud compared to others. If you are browsing from the keyboard it is very easy to switch between instruments/plugins, and twisting the browser dial results in a painful surprise.
This previous question was the same, but the answer was just to point out the volume slider, which isn't saved/set per instrument.
