Overly sensitive middle C on S61 MK3 keyboard

Hello, I just got a refurbished Komplete Kontrol s61 mk3 from native instruments via Reverb. Everything’s working really great since I first hooked it up to my mac running logic pro except the fact that the middle C key is super velocity sensitive - no matter what octave i’m in and no matter the instrument i load up. I saw a couple limited threads on this for the older mk2 version but looks like this is a problem with the mk3 as well? Is there a fix for this, or did i get a defective piece? The description on Reverb did say I have a 30-day warranty - so wondering if i should go through it asap

If it is just 1 key, it's a defect. The QC for referbs from what I have read over the years is very hit and miss. There have been cases where some users have sent a unit back under warranty for a fault and received 2 different returned models, both just refurbs with different issues again.

Likely the reason it is a refurb is because it had an issue with middle C…

Ugh that sucks lol. I guess i can live with this small defect - based on what i’ve read it could really be worse

I wouldn't. I'd still hit up NI support and see what they have to say. I would not imagine trying to play something and having one key way out of whack from the others.

The issue from what I have seen based on people that have opened it up and fixed it which rather a task because you have to pull the whole keybed apart so not for the novice but also, not "complex just delicate, is the sensor pad for the key or a buffer strip is misaligned or has something stuck on it like some fluff or debris. Not a guarantee it will be the issue but for the adventurous it may be fixable. However if there is any kind of warranty, that will likely be voided. I fix things for half a living so i'd personally pull it apart to see what's up but that isn't a game for everyone.

Sounds like its stuck on 127 velocity, which in my understanding is something to do with the graphite pad. I have an old synth with 2 or 3 intermitttent 127 velocity keys . I had the pad replaced down in the lower end which helped for a while but issues eventually appeared there and elsewhere on the keybed.

I would send it back. You cant just "live with it" trust me. It will annoy the stuffings out of you sooner rather than later and who's to say it isn't the beginning of more of them going.
