ETA Full Compatibility macOS 26

Hi,
when will TP4 be fully compatible with the current version of macOS 26?
After years of using Traktor Pro, I guess we're all used to the fact, that it 's not compatible from day 1, but the last NI update has been posted on 16th September… from now on, how long?

Since it is a work in progress then nobody can answer that question with any certainty.

As you point out yourself then last update on progress appear to have been in September : macOS 26 Tahoe Compatibility Statement – Native Instruments

Usually about 4 months after release is the average.

And even when it does come out.. i wouldn't recommend going to Tahoe if you don't have to..

Rather stay on a stable OS/Traktor version for a longer time..

Yeah i bought a New Macbook pro M4 pro 3 months ago so Apple made the choice for me… :(

I'm on Sequoia and not really happy.. "a lot" of crashes with Traktor.. and unfortunatley i need my mac for to many things to go back to an ealier OS..

For the first time a MacOs upgrade has literally nothing useful for musical artists and the GUI is a step backwards so I fail to see why people are so eager, unless of course they are unfortunate enough to have it foisted on them with a new Mac

Even in a "new" situation - can a Mac user simply roll back to Sequoia if need be?

Generally when you buy a "new" Mac you are stuck with (at a minimum) the OS that was current at the time of release, you cannot just "re-install" an older OS. I deliberately chose a 2nd hand MacBook at the start of the year as my move from Intel processor to Apple Silicon, firstly because I wanted to stick with Ventura that was working well on my 16" MacBook Pro i9 … and because a very well priced M1 Max came up with 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD, that would also work well for photo editing in the future (extra GPU cores make exports much faster).

From memory the previous owner had upgraded to macOS 15 Sequoia, however because it came out in October 2021 with macOS 12.0 Monterey, I was able to create a USB installer for macOS 13 Ventura and do a clean install.

It’s difficult to go back to earlier versions that were not installed - but you can create a dual book system with an older OS on, even install that on an external drive. I have an Intel MacBook setup like that dual booting Sonoma and Mohave to enable me run some old stuff like the Nord G2 editor and Kore 2

Please report those crashes and include the output from Support Tool. It could help us/NI to find the solution for your issue.

Hi everyone, I’m one of the unlucky ones, like @Remcol34 , who was forced onto the new macOS. I own an old mid-2015 MacBook Pro, i7 quad-core, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD running Monterey. Everything works, except that after 9 years of heavy daily use it has started acting up with the CPU. I decided it was time to upgrade, and yesterday I bought a refurbished 14" MacBook Pro M1 Pro with a 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, and 1 TB SSD.

Only today did it occur to me that it might arrive with the new Tahoe installed. I asked Back Market support, and they confirmed: “The operating system is always compatible with the purchased model and updated to the latest version supported by the hardware.” Let’s hope they’re wrong 🤞🏻

I’m a producer/DJ and I wanted to use it for an important gig in mid-November together with TP4 and my Z1 MK2. Has anyone by any chance tested the compatibility of the Z1 MK2 with macOS 26.01??

I think that once the new Mac arrives this week, I’ll try opening and cleaning my old i7 and also replacing the thermal paste, hoping to solve the thermal throttling issue.

I'm running Tahoe with Komplete 14 Collectors, S88 Mk3, Arturia Keylab 61, Cubase 14 (will be 15 when I buy the upgrade in a few mins) plus a load of other stuff and so far I haven't had one single problem.

Native Access has installed updates fine.

I don't run any Traktor hardware though and this was an upgrade to Sequoia not a fresh install

M1 Mac Pro 16", 16GB Ram, 1TB internal, 4TB External, using a 55" TV at 4K 60hz as my monitor through a Caldigit TS4 (needed due to eyesight being appalling)

I actually never reported anything.. because normally it's just rebooting the mac and start over..

Also i don't know where Support tool is ? is that in the package of the Traktor application ?

That’s interesting because someone in another Tahoe thread was saying nothing installs from NI so maybe it isn’t a general Tahoe issue but a system one for them?

I wouldn’t be surprised if most recentish stuff did work - this is not a major ‘breaks stuff’ update like the move to Apple Silicon or 64 bit, just a bit of glassy polish

If you wan to ensure you have the right version of a specific macOS, click on one of the versions at the top and you will get a full list of available releases and any specific release info … for example Ventura that I still use with my M1 Max:
