Effects plugins: how to record (automate) Kontrol knobs that control effects parameters?

My DAW (digital performer) can record the midi output of the wheels. The knobs are all CC output. When they're controlling any plugin, can the Kontrol knobs be recorded (automated) like the wheels? I'm not seeing this happen and it seems intuitive that it is doable but I'm not seeing that in the manual or online (or I missed it) Thanks!

Update: when default midi template is loaded, the Kontrol knobs record into the DAW as CCs, but when the same knobs are controlling an effect plugin, they don't record into the DAW. I wonder why…seems intuitive that any movement of the knob would be recordable no matter what the knob is doing. Maybe it's NOT a knob issue. Just a guess but maybe it's a plugin communication issue?

Cant record automation for effects loaded in KK. KK is pretty much useless for using effects within a DAW so just use them as you do normally in your DAW. Bg reason out of all the NKS libraries I create, I don't waste time anymore on effects.
