Using Circular to develop a song in the DAW

Can somebody here using Circular give me a hint how to use it properly for song development? I am still learning, so blatantly obvious tips might be feasible. I have added Circular via Kontakt 8 as a plugin in Garage Band and can play and record it via MIDI controller.I designed and saved a pattern in Circular that I want to use ... but now I would like to "fade in" the four Layers step by step (first D, then C and finally A+B) in the song. I can do that while playing via unmuting the Layers ... but that (I think naturally) doesn't produce the proper effect, as in playback Garage Band always uses the current configurarion of the MIDI instrument - and not the one used while recording. ... is the correct way to go about creating 3 different instruments with the desired combination of layers ... or am I doing something completely wrong altogether here? I have the dim feeling I'm on a wrong path.

I'm not sure this applies as I don't use Circular or Garage Band, but I commonly do things like this on any of my virtual instrument plugins in Ableton by selecting the option MIDI Arrrangement Overdub. This allows me to record the initial track then re-record over the same track and add control elements without destroying what was recorded earlier. Something like this would work if you're only changing controls and not adding any MIDI notes.

However, because you're changing the base configuration of the instrument you may not have a choice because this tends to apply when I have a single configuration of the library and am just modifying parameters like volume or modulation.

That being said you should be able to use multiple tracks and simply copy the segment of MIDI notes to different tracks with different configurations rather than physically playing them.
