Maschine+ crashes/freezes all the time. NEED HELP!

Hey Everyone,

We are performing live on a weekly basis and recently switched from an Octatrack setup to a Maschine+ setup for our performances. Next friday is our first show with the new setup. But on my new Maschine+ I'm getting freezes and crashes left and right. To a point where we cant perform like that. But there is basically nothing on it. A couple of projects maximum (SD card has still plenty of space) and even the projects are very simple its mostly 1 group with 16 Pads (CPU is 20% max.). Also the latest Firmware (3.3.1. and 1.9.) etc. is installed. It even freezes when nothing is open. I also tried to do a full reset of the maschine, but nothing seems to help. Now I need help.

I'm really desperate at this point and grateful for anything.

Is this using the Maschine+ as pure stand alone ? Or if not using the Maschine+ as stand alone then ? :

To give some more people an opportunity to try to assist then what's your hardware platform ?

E.g. Motherboard ? , CPU ? , GPU ? Hard drive(s) used ?

Are you networked when this happens ? E.g. internet connected ?

What's your security software ?

No matter then if networked then try with network off…

Sould've said that from the get go: Im using the Maschine+ as standalone. So my PC is should not be the problem.

I tried it connected to a network and disconnected. All wlan.

There is a lot of very skilled people here in this forum which I'd like to think could help , but if the device even "freezes when nothing is open" and you tried "a full reset of the maschine" (but nothing seems to help) then I'd personally think that you'd need the assistance of N.I. Support. I am no Maschine expert but my advice is to please contact N.I. Support (all) ASAP.

Contacting N.I. Support should yield a ticket confirmation email and will not prevent you from the opportunity to keep trying to get help here form other people.

P.S. if you are not using original SD-Card then try using that to see if that makes any difference.

Thanks, I opened a ticket a couple of hours ago. Let's see when I get a response.

Something to note: I unplugged the SD card (still the factory Card), just to see if it still crashes and since then I didn't get a crash. Even though it's a very tiny success, it's still something.

Well , if unplugging the SD-Card helps then that opens the possibility that the problem could be as 'little' as a defective card and before you have tried with another factory card then we can not exclude that (IMO then if the problem is a defective SD.Card then that would be very much better than e.g. defective HW).

microSD cards have been a problem for some users, including me. I had errors with a micro, swapped to full size card from same manufacturer with the same spec and all was ok. It might have been a faulty card but it worked ok with other hardware.

Update: The crahes are less frequent. But still happen.

NI should be able to help and get a crash-log/dump file, so they can see what is causing these issues.

BTW, is it a new or a refurbished or secondhand M+?

Ok, strangely all crashlogs are empty. I just checked.

It's a new one!

Could be a hardware defect then, maybe a bad memory chip, or the unit overheating…
