Kontrol S61MK3 freezing when using Logic Pro 11.2 and Berhinger X Touch

Hi everyone,

My Kontrol S61MK3 keeps freezing when using in Logic and Berhinger X Touch. My goal is to use the X Touch to control the daw and have S61MK3 to control my Komplete Instruments. Is there some special way this has to be set up? Any help would be appreciated.

Well after many hours - decided to not use the X Touch. Disconnected the X Touch. Deleted Mackie Control from Logic, trashed com.apple.logic.pro.cs (did that prior per the instructions, still had issues when using the X Touch with Komplete Control) and rebuilt the Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Rebuild Defaults. Working ok so far.

Is the keyboard only freezing when the X touch is connected? Please try to use Logic with the keyboard only, is it still freezing?

Hey, Sorry to hear it's freezing, have you tried deleting your control surface preferences? it usually resolves issues people have with their logic integration with the Kontrol MK3 keyboard (you can find the file to delete after closing logic at /Users/your.name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs) Then going to Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Rebuild Defaults to reset everything

If you still just want to disable the KMK3 DAW controls you can delete the control surface in Logic by going to Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Setup… then hitting delete on the KMK3 setup
Addiitionally you could delete the Logic scripts entirely at /Library/Audio/MIDI Device Scripts/Native Instruments/KONTROL S61 MK3.device (you can get them back by reinstalling the agent)

Just a warning though, if you remove the control surface setup with the MK3 you won't have focus follow with your NI plugins (The plugin focused by the keyboard won't change when you change track). So ideally we'd be able to get you up and running with the new setup without any freezing

Thanks for the super quick responses. It is almost unpredictable. It is also happening in Ableton Live also. The Keyboard freezes When I try to adjust any of the eight knobs to alter the sound. I launched Logic with the X Touch powered down, ran Komplete Kontrol with the following : Track 1 - Analog Dreams, Track 2- Bouquet, Track 3 - Kontact. Tried to altered cutoff and the keyboard froze. Tried this 4 times with different plug-ins from Komplete. Seems whenever I get to to third or fourth plug-in the keyboard freezes. Tried switching tracks all the buttons on the keyboard Don't respond.

I launched Logic for a fifth time with the X Touch powered up and everything worked fine. Launched Logic a sixth time and after the third plugin the keyboard froze.

The times I launched Logic without the X-Touch I used a combination of the above but added Massive X. That immediately froze the keyboard. Same with massive.

Run a MAC Pro M4 , Cpu was fine.

Glad it's working ok so far on it's own! We will see if we can reproduce any freezing internally with another control surface connected, because that's not the behaviour we want!
