Session Horns Pro Issues with Falls and daw crashing

I have had issues for a long time with Kontakt Player crashing my Reaper Daw both with Session Horns and session Strings. I have tried recording at all buffer sizes as it was recommended to try at a higher rate. But this does not work.

I also have an issue with falls which is what I want to concentrate on at the moment.

As is usual I record a fall using the pitch wheel on my midi keyboard. If i inspect the midi data I see the pitch data so I know it was recorded properly. With no rhyme or reason at some point in time the notes will not fall. Not on every instance of the track though. I tried switching the dynamic control in Session Horns Pro from velocity to CC11 (only option available). but then the volume completely drops on the track to almost zero. Barely audible. The following is what I saw on a google search.

When Session Horns Pro 2 notes sometimes do not fall after recording, it is likely a MIDI automation issue within your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). The most common causes are that the mod wheel data (CC#1) was not recorded correctly, or that other settings are overriding the automation. Troubleshooting stepsCheck the MIDI data in your DAWFirst, open the recorded MIDI clip to inspect the automation data. The recorded mod wheel movement should be visible as a separate lane of data.

Locate the CC#1 lane: In your MIDI editor, find the automation lane for MIDI CC#1 (Modulation Wheel).
Inspect the data: The CC#1 automation needs to be at a high value (near 127) when the note begins, and then drop rapidly to a low value (near 0) to trigger the "fall" articulation.
Adjust the data: If the automation isn't there, or if the transition is too slow, you can draw it in manually with the automation tools in your DAW.

As you can see, you cannot switch to CC1 in the dynamic control on Session Horns. Only CC11 is available.

Hello,

cc11 is the modwheel and on some instruments you can use it to automate the volume, it has nothing to do with the pitch (wheel) ~~cc1~~. The text from google is not correct, if you want to make a fall with trumpets you start with the PW in the middle and if the note starts you quickly turn it down. I quickly tried a bit with session horns pro within maschine but the behaviour was not very consistent with drawn automation (maybe i oversaw something). So i will try later with cubase, and report back, i could also try in reaper. What audio interface do you use?

I Use Reaper. I do use the pitch wheel not the modulation wheel. It works fine but after a while when working on a project it will stop playing the fall and only hold the note. It will not happen in every instance on the track. Also I had to start putting falls on a completely separate track because all held notes that I tried to perform following the fall would also fall even though I was not touching the pitch wheel. I would try a new midi controller if I new for sure that was the problem but with the crashing issue only when working in a track with Kontakt player I am inclined to think that that is the issue and not the keyboard.

Almost forgot, I downloaded midi view a while back and I do not see any cc information showing up when I am not touching the pitchwheel. Only when I move it does cc data appear. This is why I do not think it is the keyboard.

I'm not sure we're talkingthe same thing or not. I'm using Session Horns Pro and to get a Fall you select the Control area at the bottom portion of the display where you set up the appropriate pitchwheel behavior for Doits/Falls whether it's on note or release. This operates independently from the DAW and is based on the MIDI value of the pitch wheel at the time of note press or release. In the following example you roll down the pitchwheel value while playing the note and then the fall occurs when your release the note.

Yes, I know how that works. I have it set up to move the pitch whell before I play the note. Maybe I should try the other option.

Ahh ok seesion horns pro has a few more options for that, sorry for mixing some midi cc´s up. I tried so far in cubase and there it worked like it should, i will install reaper and try again. And i guess a new controller will not fix it as long as yours reaches max and min values.
