Native Access Should Visibility Warn of Compatibility Changes Before Clicking Download

I will not tolerate companies that waste my time and they know they're doing it, because they have forum posts with a, "heads up' like it clears them for doing it in the first place. Topic is closed with no way to even have a discussion about it.

Most of the people that use your product, don't use these forums because they would rather make music without trying to gain some useless badge on a site like this.
I shouldn't ever have to click the small 3 dots on the right of the product, then click read details just to see if something changes (compatibility wise) on a so-called update. I spent like 3 hours wasting fixing libraries that quit working. This is asinine.

I demand, Native Instruments change Native Access updating practices to clearly show if an update changes compatibility (before updating), or I walk from all Native Instruments and subsidiaries.

I'm not playing your marketing push that it works with X (enter latest version here). It's just planned software obsolescence, nothing else.

Assuming you mean the recent Kontakt library updates, yep a warning would be good and it's been asked for a bunch of times. Hopefully at some point it'll appear, but don't hold your breath.

The "Heads up" post was mine, and it was to warn people who use the forums that a later version of Kontakt might be needed. It was a "better than nothing" approach, and hopefully saved a few people problems.

You can use the free K8 Player for anything that NI produce and it won't be any different from the full version, so if you need an update you could always use that. Not ideal again, but at least it gives you a way forward.

After checking about the heads up, you're right, I confused your post with the one about the Session update changes (just thought all posts at the time were Native Instruments employees).

I sadly didn't get the memo as I don't use these forums. I only found it because I needed to find out how to revert a bunch of libraries. While it was easy (after finding the link), I shouldn't have to even do this.

The only real thing I've ever used from Native Instruments was Kontakt, and they're messing that up bigtime.

While I get that Native Instruments provides a free Kontakt player, I won't play into their private equity planned obsolescence marketing ploy. I purchased Komplete 14 and I demand that Native Access only shows me updates that work for the software that came with it, nothing else.

I don't ever want to update something that quits working with the update that shipped with it. If they can't offer that, I don't want the update notification. I think it's logical, but all Native Instruments is thinking is how to get more money out of the paying customers.

I won't play along with this corporation marketing so some board members can get a new percentage increase in a quarter to make them feel better about themselves.

After experiencing this update dilemma, I've already started the process of unloading all Kontakt libraries to their own respecting platforms like Spitfire, Orchestral Tools, Soundpaint etc.
As of right now, I don't think Native Instruments values me, so I'll go find a company that does. Native Access changes, or I walk. Easy.

I'd disagree that it's planned obsolescence as they give you the free player that'll let you run all the NI software at no charge. I know it's not ideal, but at least you get to use all the latest Kontakt libraries and features at no cost.

The other option is to just ignore updates completely. The software will continue working exactly as it did when you bought it.

Unfortunately expecting Native Access to get an IQ higher than it's version number isn't likely to happen soon, even though that gets requested very, very often!!

I posted this article for feedback directly for Native Instruments. At no point was I meaning to make a discussion (my mistake).

I'm in talks with Native Instruments about having my forum account removed, as I know for a fact I wouldn't ever use a place like this to discuss music related questions. Too many variables for biased opinions to rise.

I don't mean to shame and/ or harm, I'm just direct.

Truth is all I want, nothing more. I wouldn't dare ask for someone's opinion if I thought they would lie to me. I gave Native Instruments truthful feedback as a paying customer of their products from an experience I had.
