What are the differences between the licensed and subscription versions of Music Production Suite 8?

I want to upgrade to Ozone 12 Advanced, and I currently own a license for Music Production Suite 7.1. The Loyalty offer to upgrade to MPS 8 is $279. The annual cost of subscribing to MPS 8 is $200. There seems to be some differences in the naming of the some of the included products… for example Vocal Synth 2 vs just Vocal Synth. The product images look the same.. but are there differences?

If upgrading a license to the latest version of MPS is going to be a "new normal" of $279 per year, it might make more sense to subscribe for only $200 per year.

I might do this, if the included products are in fact the same…. Hmmm

I would think the product mix is identical. However…

MPS is roughly an "every 18months -2 year" kinda thing. Not every year. So…

$279 is perpetual AND roughly every 2 years. VS a "real" $200.00 per year for the sub.

So over roughly a 2 year period - you pay $400.00. I pay $279.00.

You can see the savings - if perpetual is your thing…

Yes, but there are many products within the MPS bundle that will have their own major upgrades with a 12-24 month cycle, and each would have their own upgrade costs that collectively would likely significantly exceed that $400 2 year cost of subscription… RX, Neutron, Nectar.. plus any newly introduced Catalyst Series might join the Subscription MPS bundle for "free" during this interim period.

So if you want to keep all the MPS products current, the subscription plan is better financially. If the Loyalty upgrade prices weren't so steep, this wouldn't be the case.

Absolutely. If you are the type that has to have the latest - all the time - iZotope/NI will be more than happy to take your money.

But as an iZotope user for a decade and a half now - there is never enough reason to update everything - every cycle.

I am "buy and use" vs "new and shiny". I like to take my stuff to the max and only consider spending more - when a feature or function warrants it.

Each to their own.

I have used iZotope products for many years as well. I consider them to among the more innovative developers and consequently their product updates do have compelling reasons to upgrade with each release. I will likely do a free trial of the MPS 8 subscription as compare these installs to those from my perpetual MPS 7.1.

Another point to simplicity is that the subscription versions are managed in Native Access. If I make the leap, will be no need to use the iZotope Product Portal anymore.

Wonder how much I could sell my MPS 7.1 license for???

My conclusion is that the upgrade price, as always with IZotope, is way too expensive. They're almost punishing their existing users for having the temerity to have already purchased their products.
