The keys on my PC keyboard do not match those on the virtual keyboard

Hi,
I'm trying to use Kontakt 8 (with Minimalist Violin Legato free) in Ableton Live Lite but I can't quite get it working.
First, recording doesn't work when I play the notes by clicking on the virtual keyboard in Kontakt8.
Then my PC keyboard keys do not reach the active keyboard part (in blue) in Kontakt8.Could you help me solve this problem, please?

Hi Faber.

When you have the virtual keyboard active in Ableton then you can press the Z and X keys to move a octave down or up. By pressing X a couple of times, you can reach the active zone of the virtual instrument.

I have not recorded MIDI by clicking on the NI virtual keys with a mouse, so I can´t help with that but you
can check if the track is armed for recording (the little record button on the track itself should be red) and also press the main record button at the top of the screen to start recording.

A PC keyboard probably isn't the best way to play. It's doable, yes, but you will hit limitations eventually… and that can quickly turn into frustration.

Perhaps getting yourself a Komplete Kontrol M32 keyboard would help?

How do you have your keyboard configured in Preferences→settings?

Also check your Audio settings to make sure it's correct as well.

Thanks for the replies. It works much better with a piano. However, I'm still limited (in Minimalist Violins Legato) to about 4 active octaves: the other keys are outside the blue zone.
