OK to remove ancient C++ elements relating to NI?

Just want to conifrm that I'm probably correct in assuming certain C++ resources that apperad at the same time as Installing Native Access actuall relate to that product.

I'm attempting to remove all traces of NI products + associated 3rd party elements…

No - it is not ok and no they do not relate.

Those are Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable libraries - used by thousands of apps out there. Never a good reason to ice these.

And - yours are way out of date:

So is your version of Native Access - v3.20.1 just dropped about 30 minutes ago.

I have no idea what they relate to. I thought everything is .NET these days. Just a co-incidence that they were installed at the same time as Native Acess then I guess

Trust me - let them be.

You do not need to be concerned with these packages. And no - everything is definitely not .NET these days.

If you want smooth sailing - these are installed for a reason.

What @Vocalpoint said is correct.

However, what you really need is always the latest version (pointed by Vocalpoint too).

Then, should you remove the older ones?

Nope, unless you know what you are doing! If you are 100% sure that you do not have any older software, plugin etc. (of any kind, not just audio) it's ok to remove them. Still, it doesn't harm to leave them…

Even duplicate versions (like the 2008, above) might have purpose. Some older Adobe apps for example, will work only with a specific sub-version and not with the newer or older ones.

Still… you can go on and remove them. If any program need them, it will notify you and you can re-download them from Microsoft…
