timrae_NI: I'm actually using Nuendo, but thought I'd keep thinks simple and call it Cubase. I'm thinking Steinberg hasn't updated, at least as of yesterday. Thanks for responding.
@Edenorchestra I just split your comment to have a clearer communication.
Nuendo is not officially supported, only Cubase, however it should also work, since the architecture is very similar.
Make sure to install the Hardware Connection Service from our download manager: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/account/downloads/
The Hardware Connection Service installs the scripts for Cubase anyway.
Cubase and Nuendo use separate user folders for MIDI Remote scripts. A script that Cubase uses will not be automatically detected by Nuendo. To make your custom script accessible in Nuendo, you need to manually copy the JavaScript file from the Cubase folder to the equivalent Nuendo folder.
Script Folder Locations:
The scripts are located in a Local folder specific to each application. Simply copy your .js file from the Cubase path to the Nuendo path.
Windows: Cubase: C:\Users<Your Username>\Documents\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Remote\Driver Scripts\Local<Your Script Folder> Nuendo: C:\Users<Your Username>\Documents\Steinberg\Nuendo\MIDI Remote\Driver Scripts\Local<Your Script Folder>
macOS: Cubase: /Users/<Your Username>/Documents/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote/Driver Scripts/Local/<Your Script Folder> Nuendo: /Users/<Your Username>/Documents/Steinberg/Nuendo/MIDI Remote/Driver Scripts/Local/<Your Script Folder>
Once you copy the script folder over and restart Nuendo, it will appear in your MIDI Remote Manager just as it does in Cubase.
Let us know if that worked out for you.
Thanks guys, I am using MAC, what's Windows is that an operating system (LOL). Thanks I will try that this evening . . appreciate all the help here for sure.
Yes but for this Cubase/Nuendo thing, there is also an issue for Mac users with the Hardware Connection Service, I've updated the thread
So if you want to have the correct files you will also need to download the Hardware Connection Service from the download manager.
OK still troubleshooting ….
Manually installed HCService, copied NativeInstruments_Kontrol_S_Mk3.js to my Nuendo Folder using the proper file path. No change, checked MIDI remote manager, nothing showing. I tried importing the .js file, then realize that Nuendo is looking for a .midiremote file. I'm not clear on when/how Nuendo reads the JavaScript, seems like the .midiremote is an additional package around the .js . . I don't know . . . Thanks for keeping up on this.
Try copying the entire Local folder over instead of just the .js file, this will ensure the paths are correct. In particular one of the paths must be "NativeInstruments" not "Native Instruments", and it seems 9/10 users get this wrong when we ask them to copy manually
You are correct, I did have the space, I think when I built some other MIDI remotes I made that folder. I'll test it out over the weekend . .
Thanks so much! Good support.
It works, thank you again.
