Hello, I recently purchased a used Komplete Kontrol S88 MK2 master keyboard.
The keyboard was in excellent overall condition. However, when I tried to connect my existing sustain pedal and play in my DAW, Logic Pro, I noticed that the sustain pedal wasn't working.
So, I Googled and found comments from others who had struggled with the sustain pedal issue, and I tried all the suggested solutions. However, my keyboard still wouldn't respond to my sustain pedal.
So, I desperately need your help. This is a real headache, and I've been fighting this for days. I contacted Ni by email, but the response was so slow that I couldn't wait for a response, so I'm posting this here.
Considering the possibility that my existing pedal was broken, I purchased a new M-audio SP-2 sustain pedal, officially certified by Ni, and tested it.
Let me explain my situation.
- After connecting the keyboard to my Mac in the latest version of Komplete Kontrol, I checked if the app recognized my keyboard. Next to the MIDI settings panel, I saw that it recognized exactly 88 keys.
- In the most basic MIDI panel, I checked the Pedal tab, switching between Tip and Ring, and confirmed that the CCs were set to 64 and 65, respectively. I tried turning one off and trying a multitude of other options, but sustain didn't work at all.
- To check the MIDI input signal, I used a MIDI input signal check app to adjust the pedal settings, then pressed the pedal and observed the pedal without pressing it.
- When I switched my pedal to a mode other than Switch mode, I confirmed that CCs 123-127 continued to log even though I wasn't performing any actions. I also occasionally check the input log for "demper" and "portamento." Portamento is recognized as a CC65.
- Given this, I've confirmed that the pedal isn't defective or not being recognized. If I'm wrong, please explain in more detail.
- I've tested the SP-2 pedal by constantly changing the polarity, and I've tried everything, but nothing has changed.
Is it because the Komplete Kontrol file path isn't downloaded to my MacBook? I understand others have easily resolved this issue, so why is it so complicated for me?
My Komplete Kontrol app is version 3.5.0, the latest version.
PS. I have another question: I also downloaded the latest version of the Controller Editor app, version 2.8.2. There's a Connect button in the app, but it's not activated. This is driving me crazy. I'm not sure if my hardware is missing some important file or if it's not downloading properly. Please help.
To help clarify this explanation, I'll attach a screenshot I took.
