Komplete Kontrol crashing with UVI Synth Anthology 4 NKS presets

Hello, I’m reaching out because I’ve been experiencing crashes and graphical issues when loading Synth Anthology 4 NKS presets inside Komplete Kontrol, and I’ve been in contact with UVI support for months without resolution.

Issue Summary

Komplete Kontrol sometimes crashes when browsing or loading presets from Synth Anthology 4.
Sometimes the plugin window opens with a broken or blank GUI instead.
This happens randomly, but often enough to break workflow and to crash a session.

Tested on

Two different Windows 11 systems (desktop and laptop).
Clean installs of UVI Workstation, UVI Portal, Komplete Kontrol (tried 3.4.0 to 3.5.0).
Tried with Komplete Kontrol in a DAW (Studio One 7) and Komplete Kontrol standalone.
Both OpenGL on and off.
Standalone UVI Workstation works fine.
No issues with other NKS instruments.

What I suspect is happening

Maybe Komplete Kontrol tries to load the preset before UVI Workstation is fully initialized, causing this instability.

In summary

I’d like to know if this is a general issue or if it’s something on my end.

Has anyone else had a Komplete Kontrol crash or bug when using the Synth Anthology 4 NKS presets?
Did you find a workaround or solution?
Is this a broader NKS integration bug that needs addressing?

Have you tried the NKS from Freelance soundlabs for comparison? (there is a free demo pack)

You may be right that if these were saved too quickly and the sample had not had time to load that can sometimes cause problems (we had a similar issue with Roli Equator patches)

I'm not aware of any underlying issues with Falcon (I use that rather than UVI workstation) - usually they seem pretty stable in KK

Well I have not used the offering direct from UVI, I developed an NKS library years before they had attempted it and honestly, never an issue reported from anyone. I offer both Falcon and Workstation versions that work in both VST2 and VST3. There is a demo download library to test with and many users who have it installed and working. Would be interested to know if it solves your problem since there are quite a few workarounds I do to make UVI instruments work correctly with NKS.

It will install to your USER library in KK so you can install and test without affecting the official ones. It would then be possible if it works for you to simply replace the existing library with the one I offer. If you are a Falcon user you benefit from being able to use Falcon instead of being stuck with Workstation too…

Would be interested to know if this solves the issue. Could be a problem in how they are creating NKS files, UVI is not easy to make NKS for.
