Having huge issues with Kontakt 7 and not sure how to fix. It's been happening on and off for a while now. Any ideas how to move forward based on the report I compiled with ChatGPT below?…Of course…right in the middle of major project.

Subject: Kontakt 7 (v7.10.7) crashes Logic Pro X (11.2.1) on macOS 14.7.6 when opening sessions & during plugin initialization

Environment

  • macOS: 14.7.6 (23H626)
  • Logic Pro X: 11.2.1 (build 6367)
  • Kontakt 7: v7.10.7 (CFBundleShortVersionString “7.10.7”)
  • Kontakt versions installed: Kontakt 6, 7, and 8 running on the same machine
  • Apogee Rosetta 800, configured as an Aggregate DeviceQuickLoad status
  • QuickLoad is completely empty (no user content)
  • I stopped using QuickLoad due to previous crash issues
  • No QuickLoad window was open when the most recent session-open crash occurred

Issue #1: Session-open SIGSEGV

  • Symptom: Logic Pro X immediately exits with a segmentation fault when loading a project containing Kontakt 7
  • EXC_BAD_ACCESS KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x78
  • Context: Occurs during Logic’s AU wrapper event delivery, before any QuickLoad interaction

Issue #2: QuickLoad cleanup abort

  • Symptom: In earlier sessions, closing the Kontakt QuickLoad pane would cause Logic to disappear instantly (Abort trap 6), without a macOS crash dialog
  • QL::QuickLoadData::deInit() KontaktFormManager::~KontaktFormManager() // NI code calls abort() deep in QuickLoad destructor
  • *Note: The latest crash (session-open) happens even with QuickLoad disabled and no window open

Issue #3: Auto-saved session SIGSEGV

• Symptom: Logic Pro X immediately exits with a segmentation fault when opening the auto-saved version of the session containing Kontakt 7

• Crash details: MAAudioUnit::AU2PlugIn::EventListener(...) +207

       EXC_BAD_ACCESS KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x78

• Context: Confirms the crash is tied to Kontakt 7 state in the session’s auto-saved backup, independent of any QuickLoad interactions

---* The latest crash (session-open) happens even with QuickLoad disabled and no window open Steps to reproduce

1. Launch Logic Pro X 11.2.1 on macOS 14.7.6 with an Aggregate Device (Apollo + Lynx) 2. Open a session containing a Kontakt 7 instrument → Logic crashes immediately

What I’ve tried

• AU Safe Mode: Launching with third-party AUs disabled allows the session to open
• Plugin Manager: Revalidated Kontakt 7 in Logic’s Plug-In Manager (passes validation) • Session isolation: Imported tracks one-by-one; crash always tied to Kontakt inserts

Attachments

• .ips and .crash logs from ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter & DiagnosticReports (Logic Pro–*.ips / .crash )

Please let me know if you need any further logs or reproduction steps. Thank you!

Just a note to add…..some of the issues have gone away by going back to Logic 11.1.2. So must be something to do with the latest version and how it handles Kontakt 7's messages that get thrown up on load.
