When I initially tried to update the firmware the version of the installed firmware, read 0.29. Then I got the error message shown above. I am using the Native Instrument USB-C cable that shipped with the keyboard for power supply from my computer and data transfer. When I started the process the screen on KS88 display a message indicating an update was in process. Then the above message on KSMK3 updater app popped up. Meanwhile the Keyboard screen still indicated the the update process was taking place. I thought I might have been frozen, however the lights on the keyboard were still changing as if a process was taking place. I decided to follow the direction in the popup window, by first powering off the KS88 keyboard then unplugging it, then plugged it back into my Macbook When I powering it back on, the keyboard displayed this error message. When i restarted the updater app, the installed firmware version display 0.1. I tried all the troubleshooting tips accept changing the cable. I even connected it to the dedicated power source on a power strip, so the NI USB-C cable can solely perform data transfer.

I was really looking forward to seeing what NI had to offer for making music and purchased 2 upgrades to get K15 Collectors Edition along with this keyboard. So I am truly trying to avoid sending this back. Can someone help me please?

As counter intuitive as it sounds, try and connect a USB hub to your mac and connect the keyboard via that and try again. It's apparently (according to NI) an issue in the USB side of things on macs that only affects the MK3 keyboard firmware update… But it is a mac problem, apparently.

Wow! It worked! Thank you sir. Note to all: go through the USB-C hub.
