Is it possible to use a Komplete Kontrol S-49 Mk1 and S-49 Mk3 at the same time?

I have an S-49 Mk1 which is not compatible with the latest KK release. I'd like to get an S-49 Mk3 and use it as my main controller. At the same time I'd also like to use the Mk1 to add more controls for synths with lots of extra parameters.

If that's not possible, could I get something like Arturia's KeyLab Essential MK3, which does support the latest KK software to do the same thing?

Worth flipping through the forums first few pages as this has been asked several times in just the last few weeks…

KK supports just 1 keyboard at a time. You "should" be able to use the MK1 keyboard as just a MIDI keyboard, however you have to setup the MIDI features in Control Editor and you can only make use of the 8 encoders, none of the transport buttons can be mapped at all.

Now I say "Should" because honestly NI keyboards don't like to work with more than 1 connected and if you are hoping that from the MK1 you could map some MIDI and still browse or select presets, unlikely since there are no MIDI buttons on the MK1 keyboard so nothing suitable to MIDI map to the preset controls in KK. Sadly, without full use of Kk the keyboards are somewhat useless for the space they take up. My ancient Evolution MK-461C Midi Keyboard is 10x more MIDI capable.
