Any way to modulate Bus effects with internal envelopes in Kontakt 6?

Hi,

by my understanding it's impossible to modulate bus effect parameters (I'm guessing this might be to do with the fact that the bus effects are monophonic as opposed to poly?) I was wondering if there was any workaround for this? Possibly a script? (I have little idea of how this side of the plugin works).

For context, I'm creating layered drum banks/kits and am using the group FX to process individual samples to layer into hits - I'm looking to process these layered hits in Kontakt and would like to be able to modulate the FX that bind them together (so far I'm mostly wanting to apply envelopes to filters). If anyone has any ideas or workarounds they would be much appreciated! I'm using LPX but an internal Kontakt solution would be ideal - so far it's looking like I'll have to resample or use external FX, which is fine but I'd love to have the flexibility of adjusting my layers while I'm still building a cohesive kit.

Apologies if I'm missing something obvious here - I've been away from my DAW for a couple of years.

Thanks :)

You cannot modulate bus or insert or send or main FX chain, at all. Via KSP you would have to script your own modulators, which is a relatively advanced thing to do.

Interestingly, I've just been studying precisely how MPE (MIDI Polyphic Expression) works, and you're definitely going to need to use MPE to do this. Assuming I understand what you intend to do correctly.

This gentleman explains how to set up MPE in Kontact. The important bit starts at 3:35, but do watch the whole thing to ensure that you're setting up MPE to work from front to back. Standard MIDI does not transmit one note per channel, and it won't work to do what you want (again, if I understand you correctly). Also, near the end he mentions that certain effects like delay don't really work as intended if you apply the effects outside of Kontact, so you might not be able to use your "bus effects" at all. If they don't work as intended after getting MPE set up correctly. Do try to mimic the bus effects within Kontact, and see if that does what you intend it to do. :)
