Please note that unfortunately Arturia is a little late and didn't release the templates on their side to enable them to work with Komplete Kontrol.

They should be available next week. Sorry for this hiccup.

    @Jeremy_NI:

    Is there any estimation available from your side about when at least some of the promised KK2 features may return to KK3? As it seems, @Chris_NI and @Matthew_NI aren't responsible anymore for Komplete Kontrol; at least there's no response when asking about "KK feature parity" which is still a hot topic for many of us NI users, especially for those still using earlier NI hardware as well.

    While the fact can be observed that more and more keyboards and devices from 3rd party vendors are supported and deeply integrated into the KK concept, it seems that NI has completely forgotten about their own community which is still using older (but still not obsolete) NI keyboards, like the MK2 S-series. What do I mean by that in relation to KK3?

    Well, every MK2 keyboard owner is aware of the benefits and all the functionalities which were still available when using KK2, for example subbank browsing. This was a very big advantage when attempting to look up any presets, as it was quick and effective. Unfortunately, any customizable subbank management and related tag editing etc., necessary for such an important management aspect, have been completely removed from KK when releasing version 3. This removal was performed without any warning and came unexpectedly - just from one day to the other.

    Even though it was already promised by NI that at least some of those good-old KK2 features are going to return to KK, we haven't seen any related progress since October 2023. Yes, we've been patiently waiting for such along time now. Therefore, could you please finally let us know what kind of strategy NI is persuing?

    @Kymeia already took the time many times to summarize all requested features which were suddenly disappearing as per the KK3 introduction in October 2023:

    • The ability to delete user presets from within Komplete Kontrol
    • The ability to edit properties for user presets
    • The ability to view and browse by Sub Bank
    • Return of a side browser view to enable drag and drop of samples into loaded plugins/sampler modules (now we see this added to Kontakt 8 it just makes sense for this to be in KK too)
    • Return of drag and drop into external DAWs
    • Return of a more accessible NKS properties editor without needing an extra click
    • Return of full accessibility features

    It would be really great if the community could finally get some clear answers when asking about those important topics before these are totally forgotten again, or even swept under the carpet. After all, it's not the first time that these features have been higly requested to return, as there was no reason in the first place to remove them at all. Unfortunately, there was no response from NI anymore for such a long time now.

    Please be honest and let us finally know if we can still expect any move in this higly appreciated direction. I guess the affected part of the NI community deserves clear answers. NI simply owes this to their customers who have supported your company already before the "MK3/KK3" era begun. Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi @B.Minor

    Thanks for taking the time to share such a detailed post — it’s clear how important this topic is to many in the community.

    Just to clarify, I’m still responsible for both Kontrol and Maschine. We absolutely recognize the significance of the legacy features you’ve highlighted, and the team is aware of the ongoing requests around KK2 feature parity. We’ve got all of this feedback carefully tracked, and it continues to inform our discussions and prioritization.

    That said, our current focus is on upcoming Maschine software and Maschine+ updates, which are in active development right now. I’ll be sharing a more structured update with the community when the timing makes sense — thanks again for your continued patience and engagement.

    @Chris_NI:

    Thanks for your response.

    Although I still haven't received any indication as to when an implementation start can be finally expected, I can at least interpret your answer to mean that NI will still strive to care about these features before the corresponding MK2 keyboard hardware is finally announced EOL by you. Unfortunately this might be sooner than anybody of us would like to see.

    The MK2 keyboard was just as closely linked to KK2 and its featureset as this is the case for the MK3 keyboard with its "companion" KK3. While quitting the official support for KK2, you even excluded all MK1 keyboard owners from the game prematurely, as they could not even use KK3 anymore. Therefore, I can only hope that you are not going to repeat the same move and to ditch any MK2 keyboard support within KK3 in the next few months, even before the mentioned KK2 features have really returned to KK3. I hope you get my point. Thanks again at least for your confirmation considering those aspects.

    It's good to see that NI and other maufacturers open up towards each other. This will get really interesting when there's bi-directional communication though, i.e. parameters get displayed on the devices screens. So far, it's merely keyboard MIDI templates, which everyone can create themselves.
