Keybed sensitivity seems inverted

Like many others, I've been trying to figure out how to access volume control on my S88 Mk3. I know this is an advanced feature, for only dedicated professionals, so it's hardly surprising that it might be hidden away somewhere. 🙄
Anyway, having read threads on here from helpless individuals like myself, I stumbled on the Settings > Keybed > Sensitivity options. These range from a velocity of Soft 3 to Hard 3. "Aha!", I thought, that'll be it.
Strangely though, the one that gives me the most velocity is Soft 3. Hard 3 produces barely noticeable sound. This all seems the opposite of what I'd expect… unless perhaps the 'velocity' referred to is the velocity of my fingers on the keybed not, as I perhaps naively assumed, the velocity of the virtual hammer on the virtual strings.
Can anyone explain this apprarent inversion?
TIA
