Cannot access 'audio' option in preference to interface with logic pro x

I accidentally put my serial number in the standalone version of Guitar Rig 7. It works great for me. I didn't realize it wasn't the plug-in version I wanted to interface with Logic Pro X. I tried to do the same thing with the plug-in, and I don't get the 'audio' option when I go to files, then preferences. There are no options to set up my interface. What am I doing wrong? Thank yiu.

    There's no options for audio interfacing in Logic (or any other DAW) as the audio routing is set in the DAW by selecting the track input channel and output. Do you have GR added to an audio track?

    Thanks for your help. I didn't explain myself correctly.

    Here's a screenshot of what I'm trying to explain.

    When I originally set up Guitar Rig 7, under Preferences, it gave me an 'AUDIO' option. I completed the drop-down box for my Audio Interface and was up and running. The problem was, I realized I had set things up in the standalone version of Guitar Rig 7. When I tried to do the same thing as a plugin for my DAW, it would not give me the 'AUDIO' option under Preferences. Would you happen to know why? Thanks so much! — Rod

    @mykejb nailed it.

    You will see Audio options in GR7 Standalone mode. (because there is no DAW present)

    You will never see them in the GR7 (the plugin). Since there is a DAW present (Logic) which handles all audio in from our audio interface.

    Do the following - IN Logic:

    • Add an audio track to the Logic session - that has your dry guitar as in input (via your audio interface) as managed by Logic.
    • Add GR7 as an insert
    • Rock on.

    Thanks for the advice. I have a signal in Logic with a dry guitar. I'm still not getting a signal when I add GR7 as an insert. It has to be something minor I am overlooking. I'll keep playing with it. Thanks for the help. It's hell being a rookie!

    try going into Logic Pro plugin manager and re scan the plugins. OR close logic and open up a new or existing song and see if logic says its scanning the new plugins either way it should work.

    However if you are not routing you input signal in logic FROM the input in your audio device then it wont have the signal input

    go yo your mixer Command 2. or open your mixer pane and click on the input part of the track strip that GR7 is on and assign your input. it should work and provided you track is sounding when it plays you will hear you resulting output from GR 7. record away mate !
