Komplete Kontrol vsti GUI drawing issues in Reaper

Been finding issues using a variety of NKS VSTi's and the drawing of their GUI when loaded in Komplete Kontrol. Not only are Diva and Hive from Uhe an issue but also a variety of Native Instruments VSTi synths are exhibiting the same issue. See attached images for an example.

They display fine in Standalone mode of Komplete Kontrol. It has something to do with Windows Scaling which I have at 150% on a 32Inch 4K monitor.

Using a AMD 7900XT GPU and this has been replicated on my Windows Tablet / Laptop system which has AMD integrated GPU. Both systems running Windows 11

This is well documented in tons of threads in here.

Generally NI products are designed for Standard HD with no scaling in Windows.

So if you are running in any resolution that is not HD and/or scaling - expect issues.

I did see one thread a while back where a user did something to an app shortcut and managed to get the scaling squared around. It may have been Maschine 3 software thread I think. Not sure if that applies in this case.

You will need to do some searching for that.

Yeah, well welcome to 2025 - try using software at 100% scaling on UHD or greater displays. Time to move beyond the 90's. It seems more like an issue NI devoting resources to upgrading UI's on older VSTi's

In the case of Diva and Hive from Uhe - these are reasonably recent and well supported VSTi's.

Easy solution - I'll remove what doesn't work and the Uhe instruments I'll run outside of KK with their CLAP versions. Think only the more recent NI instruments I'll bother with and Kontakt based ones.

Hey - I get it.

But for many developers - fancy UHD displays and 4K resolution is simply not a thing. They build to the lowest common denominator so as to maximize sales potential and ensure solid "general" support capability - aimed squarely at the other 95% of us who do not have such a screen

Really? 4K would not be considered fancy by any stretch of the imagination unless you are rocking 15 year old hardware or are we meant to still be on 1024 x 768 CRT displays?

The UI's from NI are difficult to use on 4K displays as much as they are to use on lower res portable devices be they 1080p laptop screens or other. Don't get me started on touch interfaces. Oh well, it is what it is but it is disappointing. They have some great instruments and ideas….

Hey - I am not disagreeing with you. Simply pointing out the reality of the world in which we are in.

Regardless of your view of "how it should be" - if 4K resolution actually mattered - you would not need this thread, and it would be a thing.

Wouldn't count on it. NI have a habit of really dragging behind the markets. I mean, VST3 compatibility was introduced to KK YEARS after every other DAW had already added support. In fact they were so late in that area VST2 had already become obsolete and they basically HAD to update.

I would not fault any user asking about something that is becoming more and more common place and wanting to see an innovative company, not one that just tries to keep up…

Yes, welcome to 2025 - the year in which HD 1920x1080 screens are still the standard resolution.

Some folks though, unfortunately get sucked into the whole "bigger is better" thing, and buy screens with a pixel density so high that everything is tiny when they run it, so then they resort to bumping up the scaling which effectively puts them back to where they would have been at 1920x1080 anyway…

Just because 4K and "Retina" screens are out there does not mean they're standard.

It was the same story when screen ratios changed (if you're old enough to remember). The standard now is 16:9 but it used to be 4:3 which was squarer. During the transitional period you could go out and buy a fancy new 16:9 screen but the standard was still 4:3

Well I like 4:3 but that is in Photography (Micro 4/3rds user).

NI has good interfaces with their newer instruments but they have left a lot of their premier older stuff behind. I suppose it is what it is but a pity. Now, lets talk about Linux support 😁

Well, new release of Komplete Kontrol - version 3.50 and the issue has been resolved.
