Updating Kontakt Player

I have a question about Studio One and Kontakt Player.
I just downloaded Kontakt Player 8, Thinking I no longer needed earlier versions, I deleted 7 and 6 from my PC. Then when I started S1 and loaded my current project, it said, not surprisingly "Kontakt Player 7 not found".
I got around this by downloading and reinstalling 7, but I'd like to have just the latest version.
So my question is, is there an easy way to update Kontakt Player without screwing S1 up?

You could leave K6/K7 installed for current projects and use K8 moving forwards for new projects. If you need to update a K6/K7 instrument save the state as a user patch, replace K6/K7 with K8, load the instrument again and load the user patch.

I'm not sure if Studio One supports migration between versions of VST, but I'm sure someone else will know the definitive answer to that. Are the K6/K7 projects using VST2 or VST3?

This needs to be updated to include Studio One v7 now:

"Auto-migration only works with the latest versions of Cubase 12 (and higher), Nuendo 12 (and higher), Logic Pro 10.8 (and higher), Pro Tools 12.3 (and higher) and Maschine 2.16.0 (and higher)"

I am aware of successful K7→K8 migrations when using Studio One v7.1.x ONLY

However - I have no telemetry whatsoever on whether one can load a Studio One Project with anything older than K7 and have that auto-migrate over cleanly to an instance of K8.

I also need to tighten this up by saying - I am aware of successful K7→K8 migration in Studio One v7.1x

However - I have no telemetry whatsoever on whether one can load a Studio One Project with anything older than K7 and have that migrate over cleanly to an instance of K8.

I will try and find out.
