Still in KK 2.9.4, any inconvenience to update in 3.0 ?

Hello ppl,
I follow NKS and KK less than before, so I would appreciate feedback.
So, any inconvenience updating, like eventual plugin incompatibility or issues with custom NKS banks ?
Setup is macOS Sonoma 14.7.3, M1 Max, KK 2.9.4
TIA
Philippe

I would recommend at least updating to KK 2.9.6.
If you are on a Kontrol S MK1, I would not update, as KK 3 is not compatible.

Have a look around in the forum (using search function): many different reasons why some people are still using KK 2 instead of 3 (e.g. some functions are not available anymore)

You could also review the KK 3 changelog in Native Access to see if any of the additions or fixes are of interest to you.

Banks are still an issue…

If you are using a Kontrol Mk1 or Mk2 as a controller, KK 3.0 is not a great experience. Slow and laggy browsing, buggy filtering while using your controller.
Maschine 3.0 actually offers the best user experience if you have a Kontrol Mk1 or Mk2 as a controller. This software has the same quick and responsive browsing/filtering as KK 2.9.6, with the benefit that it is being actively worked on and updated.

Like what ? Could you explain more please ? Thx

Not so much banks but sub banks, which are broken in KK3, so you can only see the bank name but not the sub bank name (if it has one)

Except if you are wanting to play instruments Maschine blocks the aftertouch so they don't sound how they should

thanks to everyone

yeah, I dived a bit back into KK, sub bank missing is a pain

I'm confused here. I've had sub banks working in KK 3.40 for a while now on KK. What am I missing here?

The capability to show sub banks exists in KK3 and some NI produced products have them such as Reaktor, for these sub banks show on the hardware as well as in the software host. But for most if not all plugins sub banks that showed in 2.9.6 do not appear in the hardware or in KK3x

Okay I'm still confused. I'm using KK3.4 (latest update) and both the banks and their related sub banks can all be displayed and selected within my KK on my computer as well as on my S88MK3. That's pretty much throughout all my entire set of libraries (Arkhis, Ashlight, Ethereal Earth, Abbey Road drum kits, Massive, Noire, et al). What am I missing?

I have all those installed except the drums - none of them have sub banks - I think you are confusing banks with sub banks - as you can see KK3 should be showing sub banks as it has the capacity built in but there is a bug that prevents them actually showing for plugin sub banks (where they are present)
That being said this is not a problem for NI instrument sub banks (including Kontakt) - only plugin NKS preset sub banks eg

How KK V3 affects a user will greatly depend on how invested they are and how much they know the deeper features of KK. Many users dont really pay much attention to what is going on and will likely just never really be impacted by changes but users that are much more in tune with the workings of KK will instantly hit the problems. It's all part of the overall downgrade of the browsing experience.
