How to reassign Electric Drum pads in Kontakt 8?

Hello!

I'm attempting to use my electric drum kit (Model: Alesis nitro drum module dm7x) with Kontakt 8. I'm specifically attempting to use it to track drums with Kontakt's Studio Drummer & Abbey Road 60’s drummer instruments.

So far, Kontakt is immediately recognizing my electric kit, but several of the pads are not working, and some of them are playing different pieces of the drum (like the crash instead of the tom, etc.)

Is there a specific way to reassign each pad in Kontakt 8? In contrast, when I use Logic Pro or Garage Bands internal drum set, it immediately maps correctly without any assignment.

Hoping that I'm just missing some setting to get it mapped correctly. Any advice would be amazing! Thank you for your support.

In the MIDI mapping section enable "Select by MIDI". Hit each pad/cymbal in turn and update the instrument to be the correct one for the pad. HiHats are usually the tricky ones depending on what articulations you get from the kit, but it's usually possible to get things to work with a bit of trial and error. Don't forget to save your changes!

Go into the Options tab at the bottom of the instrument. The middle section is MIDI mapping, and there are presets for various controllers. The Alesis module isn't listed, but you might find the GM mapping works. If not you can create your own mapping and save it for future use.

thanks @mykejb ! I saw the preset options and tried them all but they all do the wrong pieces of the drum. I didn’t see an option to make a custom mapping. How do I go about doing that?
